WHERE do you find them??
So, some of the tricks of finding historical photographs.
If you find a model or subject, or a photographer that you like, you can search google images and using tools search for black and white photos.
The other day edonline posted photos of Thomas Eakins so I went through my collection to choose some of Eakins many photos to post.
Model photographed by Eakins.
You can search by subject, say boxing.
Eakins was an early adopter of photography for true artistic aims. He photographed himself and his students as well as using nude models to give examples to paint from. He had no qualms about getting naked in front of his students, even female students, to demonstrate anatomy.
Despite the victorian morals of the day he found no shame in disrobing for the sake of the artists vision.

A finished painting by Eakins; "Salutat".
One of Eakins photographic studies of his college students swimming for his most famous painting.
"The Swimming Hole" 1883 the swimmer lower right is Eakins himself.
Eakins eventually had trouble and lost his teaching position over his unconventional flouting of Victorian proprieties in his college art classes.
You can take a modern photo.
And alter it to an artistic painterly image.
Change it to a black and white image.
Change it to look like a vintage photograph.
