A few months ago I joined a new gym, since the one I had been going to announced it was closing at the end of the year. The manager of the new gym -- who is the one who signed me up when I joined -- is a guy in his mid-to-late 30's, handsome, but about 20 lbs overweight. He has always been reasonably friendly, speaking to me by name when we make eye contact, but nothing over the top. He has never acted in any way to suggest he is particularly interested in me, and I have always assumed without any thought that he is staright. My "gaydar" has certainly never gone off.
Yesterday, I was in the locker room changing. I was there at an odd time, and no one else was around. Just as I had stripped naked and was about to put on my jock strap, he came walking by at a brisk pace. Without stopping or slowing down, he looked over at me and quipped, "You should make movies." I suppose he could have meant westerns or historical dramas, but I doubt it. I called after him as he walked on, "How do you know I haven't?" I believe I heard him chuckle.
Would a straight guy say that?
