Holy Shit, It's October....!

Well boys and girls...

I was shocked to see that the month had changed. Where did September go?? It seems like only yesterday it was September, and I was in school and minding my own business...

Now, it's October and the time has arrived to prepare for Halloween.

Before we know it, it will be Christmas....

*has to sit down from a rush to the head*

Has anyone else just lost track of time like that?

I'm still reeling somewhat from the fact it's no longer the Twentieth Century.

Never mind it being frickin' October.

Actually, I had to go through a load of paperwork this week and correct the month from "08" to "09", so clearly I have indeed mislaid a month somewhere.

It's one month closer to having my truck paid off, my house paid off, 2 months until I head to Mexico, 3 months until New Years, less and less time for Bush, and one day closer to death. Lots to look forward to.:tongue:

Jeff, take some small solace from the fact that yesterday it WAS in fact September! I do empathise with the passage of time though. It reminds me of a rhyme I learned a child:

"When as a child I laughed and wept - time crept,
When as a youth I dreamed and talked - time walked,
When I became a full grown man - time ran,
And later as I older grew - time flew,
Soon I shall find while traveling on - time gone."

I'm having a hard time believing October's come so quickly. The signs are here, though. The weather is cooler, the days shorter, leaves changing color or falling from the trees here in western Oregon. Fall's a bittersweet season.

Anyways, all the leaves have began taking on very vivid shades of red and orange. They are quite colourful. Perhaps I will take photos...

I really need to get this article for submission ready and start on my dissertation. UGH.

But, the cooler air allows me to wear my light sweaters and jeans. Love that!

I'm looking forward to perhaps my favourite month, November. I'm not sure why it is - I suspect it hark backs to childhood memories of conkers, bonfires, fireworks and the smell of woodsmoke and burning leaves in the air. The time of early morning mists, the first frosts and oodles of soup on chilly evenings to name but a few memories.

Maybe it's just nostalgia, either way I like November, sorry for blowing the whole of October into the weeds already....

Much fun was had by all, bruised knuckes etc aside. I was never a fan of roasted chestnuts (Sweet Chestnuts), I mean they're OK but not a favourite, I love the smell though. :smile:

NB: They're not the same thing though, conkers (Horse Chestnuts) are not really edible without great care as they contain toxins.

I was working on a little project last night and I went past midnight on it. At one point, I looked up at my computer screen and it said October 1, and it startled me a bit. I was like, "Oh shit"... seriously, where does time go. I feel like I should still be 17.

This makes me want to be 100% certain to accomplish something major before my next birthday.
