I am a deep, proud, stoic kinda guy. It takes powerful stimuli to reach my emotions, and extremely powerful ones to make me cry. With the exception of this morning, I have not cried in almost 9 months.

Today, I watched Prayers for Bobby (from LifeTime) and cried. Hard.

Go watch it, and come back to read the next spot *spoilers*.

Bobby's parents are mirrors of mine. The super religious, bible quoting mother, and the less religious, though not as pious, father.

Bobby's actions are a close mirror to mine. Discovered his true sexuality, only really acted on them when away from his parents. Like Bobby, I also once attempted suicide, though for different reasons, and obviously, not successfully.

As I watched this movie, my brain instantly drew the lines, and this movie basically just permeated me. So at the turning point of the movie (the jump) , and then at the second one (the speech by his mom) , I was ripped open and I just short of sobbed. I had to pause the movie twice, as I was unable to see the screen 2 feet away.

I suggest that everyone watch this movie, and attempt to understand the message. It is a powerful film.

REMEMBER: God doesn't make any junk - we are ALL valuable.

People quote the Bible to suit their needs - much is taken out of content; walk in the light!

There was another thread on this back in January when the movie first aired. You are not the only person to be so moved by it.

I am so sorry to hear that. I'm glad you're still with us. Are you out to your parents? If so, how is your relationship with them?

Yup, those were the scenes that got to me, too, especially the second one. I knew what the story was going to be about before I started watching, so I had my "shields up," so to speak, but I still found it upsetting and at times hard to watch.

For those who haven't seen it, here's the trailer.

Please remember that it was not his mother or father that pushed him over the edge but the actions of his "boyfriend". I only mention it because his cheating his typical of the gay community. You would think that gays would not be so mean to each other after facing all the rejection from society. I was also upset that the movie painted Bobby as pure and innocent but if he read about the real Bobby you will find that was not his first partner.
