Conservatives' scheme to bug Sen. Mary Landrieu's office telephones thwarted::eek:

ACORN 'gotcha' man arrested in attempt to tamper with Mary Landrieu's office phones | Louisiana Politics & Government - - Louisiana Politics | State Legislature News - NOLA.com

Alleging a plot to tamper with phones in Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu's office in the Hale Boggs Federal Building in downtown New Orleans, the FBI arrested four people Monday, including James O'Keefe, 25, a conservative filmmaker whose undercover videos at ACORN field offices severely damaged the advocacy group's credibility.

Also arrested were Joseph Basel, Stan Dai and Robert Flanagan, all 24. Flanagan is the son of William Flanagan, who is the acting U.S. attorney for the Western District of Louisiana. All four men were charged with entering federal property under false pretenses with the intent of committing a felony.

I'm sure this is ACORN's fault.

I'm already eagerly anticipating the Redford/Hoffman movie.

LOL...Yep...Karma, N'Awlins style. Wiretapping would be right up their alley. The illegality of it wouldn't even cross their minds, considering they just make up the laws along the way to suit their own needs, eh?

Oughta get ten to twenty for it. Hell, I'd personally throw in ten more...

    ...for lagniappe.

Fais do do, baby. Fais do do.

The Ghost of Tricky Dick still rattles chains in the halls of government. Those of us who lived through the travesty pay attention to similar chills that portend illegal chicanery. However, for Star, the same dangling of illegal chains is just music to his ears.

There is MORE to this than meets the eye. Exactly who were these people working for and what were they using for funds???? I'm sure the feds will be following the money to find out who was "bankrolling" this prank and will be cutting deals with these perps to get at the true mastermind.

Obviously, Nick-o'-da-sixes will attempt to itemize his donation check to James O'Keefe as a legitimate gift to charity ('though, I doubt pookems makes enough to itemize anything).

Gee this thread died quietly dinnit?

Kinda like the story surrounding the original break-in all those years ago. Which resurfaced rather famously later on.

    Time will tell........

But it appears that O'Keefe and his co-conspirators will avoid "rough justice" :

James O'Keefe, Co-Defendants Expected To Plead Guilty To Lesser Charges In Landrieu Break-In

The four suspects originally were charged with entering federal property under false pretenses for the purpose of committing a felony, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
But they took a plea deal from federal prosecutors - in which they plead guilty to a lesser charge and the original charges were withdrawn.
The new filing charges the four with entering a federal building under false pretenses, a misdemeanor. The new charges carry maximum sentences of six months in prison and a $5,000 fine. A date for their next court appearance has not been set.

N.B. Flanagan being the son of a federal prosecutor and a subsequent substitution of lesser charges smells highly of cronyism. I hope the judge doesn't give them a slap on the wrist.

Why was there a plea deal? Did they drop the dime on someone else? Why let them skate, unless they had something to give prosecutors?

The verdict is in. No rough justice for them, but a slap on the wrist instead:

Typical. You know how it goes. Some perps are "criminal hoodlums" that ought to be locked up, and other perps are "just kids playing pranks".
