Homeowners: Nudity In Your Backyard?

Hey guys. I'm curious how many of you who own a home can truly run around naked in your backyard. Was that a consideration for you when you purchased the place? Are you afraid someone might see in?

I've been looking to buy a home and I'm having a really tough time find a backyard that is 100% private enough. These new developments are so close, or the walls are too low. Or there is a 2-story house next door that could peer in or walls too low where someone could peek over.

Maybe its just a fantasy of mine for privacy and really there aren't many guys that are able to do that. And has anyone caught you? What are your safety nets from making sure no one sees you?

We will be looking for a home soon and I have the same nudity requirements. If your backyard is a bit of a 'fishbowl' to the neighbors, you may only be able to go out as far as a deck/patio instead of the whole backyard. Could you add shrubs in large containers or a lattice fence/panel closer to the patio for some privacy?

Yea...my goal is to hopefully find a home that is a bit elevated above the others on a slight knoll or something where any neighbors are at least below me. So its not like anyone could look or glance over. Something else I've noticed is just google driving around or doing the "street view" on properties often times you can view into some yards. I guess with suburban developments you might get that.

The last house I bought (before my current home) had a high wall around the entire pool area and then a dense hedge around the whole property - plus only one-story neighbors on all sides. That house is where I first started spending the majority of my outdoor time naked. I loved the freedom of it. So when I moved again, I didn't ask the realtor to find me houses that would allow me to continue this practice, but when I'd narrowed down to the couple of "finalists", the "can I be naked?" factor certainly figured in my ultimate decision.

Someday I hope to have a place with a backyard again and this will be one of the things I look for. I'm naked in my apartment pretty much all the time but going outdoors is out of the question in my existing setup. I'm envious of guys who have the ability to be naked outside without being on display and risking complaints or worse.

There are many ways to make a yard or a portion of a yard private if you get creative. That's not necessarily the greatest concern. Skinny dipping in your own pool normally isn't a crime.

I recommend you check the local ordinances for where you are planning to live. In most places there are no specific laws against just being nude on your own property but in some places there are. If there is an ordinance against being nude in your own yard that's not where you want to buy/rent. However there are usually ordinances against nudity when there is reasonable cause to believe a minor would see you or if anyone can see you in a sexual act. So act responsibly, know your rights and don't have tan lines

Yea...that is good advice. I think thats why I'm being so careful in my search. I certainly dont want other people or kids to have access to see me.

We have an 8 foot tall fence in what’s called a board-on-board design. This prevents anyone from seeing between slats.
We are in the process of looking for our forever home and privacy is near the top of the must have list. We’ve found two houses that we loved but the backyard couldn’t be made private so we crossed them off the list.

In a previous home my partner took the time to speak with local officials about backyard nudity. If you have a fence up and no two story homes then there is an “expectation of privacy”. This is why it’s illegal to have a camera in the bathroom of your private home. When people go into a bathroom, they have an expectation of privacy.
Since a person would have to be peering over a privacy fence to see us, they are committing a crime, not us.
Clearly it’s best to check out the local laws.

My home has a large outside property, the back of which extends toward woods and both sides are a few minutes walk to the nearest neighbors so it is very private and secluded. Also have and outside deck and in-ground pool which makes going nude even better. Although it all makes nudity very easy, I would do the same regardless of the size or privacy of the property.

My home has low sling brick fences on either side, so there’s no privacy whatsoever. It’s great for friendly neighbor backyard chats but not for backyard nudity.
That said, on a few late nights I have stepped out into the backyard for a quick moonlit wank. :)

While we'd love to be able to step outside without having to worry about clothes sometimes, but with our current house that would be impossible. In fact, several years back when we were looking to move, one of the top criteria was a private enough back yard with a pool and maybe even a hot tub where we could get together with swing friends or even host parties. Unfortunately things fell through and the way the local housing market is now, it looks like that dream may never come true, at least not for quite some time :(.

Yea...prices are soaring everywhere and the more secluded homes I was looking at that backed onto nature or more private areas are out of reach now. Now all that I have are housing developments with small walls and people all around. I'm not ready to settle on that yet.

I currently live in the city, so being naked outside is pretty much impossible. I sold my country home a couple of years ago - had lots of privacy there and I was often naked outside in the summer. I'm looking for another country home now, and privacy is number one on my list of wants.
