is no secret around here about my love for taco bell. currently i am stuck on black bean crunchwrap supremes with extra nacho cheese.

i am still super pissed about the spicy tostada. and lava sauce!!

I like Taco Bell as well. When I lived in Asia it was practically a holy site for some of us in the American expat community. Someone would go there, take pictures and then tell stories about the trip. Looking back on it, our reaction to American fast food, in general, was so bizarre. lol

I like Cici’s too. It’s affordable, non-pretentious, and fast. The pizza’s comparable to, and in some cases, better than, the delivery franchises. I like to go righht when they open, though.

And lunch at Olive Garden is a secret pleasure for me. It can be fun to go there and fill up on soup, salad and breadsticks.

Here in the US southeast Waffle House is the place, though. It’s always an experience going there!

I guess in matters of taste there’s no right or wrong. Back in the day I dated this woman whose favorite place to eat was the food court at Target. She liked the grilled cheese and fries they had then. Who am I to judge?:emoji_upside_down:

Hands down Waffle House! Oh, give me those hash browns! I'm on a first name basis with a couple of the waitresses there. It was three blocks from my old office so it was convenient. Now it's out of the way, but I still go there every couple of weeks!

And like XL said, it's always an adventure! But the food is consistently good although the denizens vary from morning to night. Go there on a Halloween night or after a costume party like we did! Two vampires sitting in a booth in the corner laughing their heads off. Yeah, we were tipsy and hungry.

Olive Garden is another favorite of mine. It's only problem is the price. It costs way too much, even with unlimited soup and breadsticks.

The Costco food court…don’t judge. :yum

i can get a hot dog and beverage for $1.50 or a big slice of freshly made pizza for $2. All told, two people can feast for about $10.

I go to Cici's pizza. I can't judge anybody.

Actually speaking of Costco when I was in Asia they opened up one in a neighboring. I went there about once a month. It was a horrible trip and took about two hours by train, but it was totally worth it for the pizza alone. lol

My daughter worked at Cici's pizza for a month one summer. That's all she could last. She told me "Mom, never ever eat at a Cici's Pizza!" I asked her why, but all she said were "Kids."

I don't know, actually. We don't really eat out very often.

It's a matter of individual location, too. Our local Sonic Drive-in? No. Don't do it. It's not gonna be fresh, the meat will be burnt/dry and the bun will be somehow soggy and stale at the same time, the veggies will be wilted... Fucking NO.

The one a couple hours south of us? Oh fuck it's so good every time I've ever eaten there. Fresh as hell, just... YES.

On the rare occasion I eat fast food, I want it like *that*.

And yes, I've worked fast food. Restaurants, food service is not unfamiliar to me. If you give me shit food, I'll remember. If you give me some badass fresh food? You fucking kick ASS.

Edit: one type of restaurant I will literally never eat again? Any kind of "buffet". I can't. I won't. I'd rather starve.

How could I forget Whataburger! OMG! In and Out? Nah. Five Guys? Four too many. But Whataburger. Maybe it's a Texas thing, but damn it's good!

I missed it so much when I lived in Atlanta. But I squealed like a little girl when I found one when we moved to Florida! It's a good half hour or more but so worth the drive!

KFC, but only when very drunk. For some reason, drunkenness unlocks the inner craving.

Mcdonalds, if I want a cheap coffee that's decent quality. Far cheaper than Starbucks and arguably better.

Burger King, once in a blue moon. There's something about the combo of chargrilled burger and plasticy cheese melted onto it.

OMG Ellie, do I ever agree!!! Whataburger is the absolute bomb!

Every time I traveled to Florida to visit my parents, I had lunch almost every day at Whataburger. And those days when I didnt, I felt cheated!

Absolutely my all-time favorite fast-food burger chain. Nothing else comes close.

Fun fact: One of the few fast food chains that had caffeine-free diet coke on the self-service soda machine! :D

Why do you hate buffets? They are awesome!

You know what I dislike? Ala carte restaurants. The food isn't bad, but it just seems so low class. I remember when I was a child my grandparents would always take me to this ala carte chain that existed in my hometown. My grandparents loved going there, but the way you picked out your seating and got your food reminded me too much of school. It just didn't feel like the way adults should eat. The last time I went to an ala carte restaurant was when I was living in Taiwan. There was this chain restaurant that was a la carte, but I thought it was a buffet. You can't imagine how disappointed I was. Food was good, but the dining experience was so trashy.

People are disgusting. Any restaurant that lets people serve themselves is a restaurant I won't eat at.

I should add I mean buffets like Golden Corral etc. If other patrons are touching the serving utensils I want nothing to do with it.

I've seen too many things I can't unsee.

I don't like eating in restaurants in general though. We usually only do that out of obligation.

Florida invites In-N-Out to open in Sunshine State as restaurant battles California's vaccine mandates

I'm going to slightly alter the thread title to read
Heavenly Hamburgers. In-N-Out is a marvelous little fast food chain that has thrived despite its eccentric family's line of succession. Bite into a Double-Double and you're a little nearer to God. And there's a reason for that.

In-N-Out Brothers - P'Chelle International

When founder Harry Snyder left this Earth for a higher flight level he made damn sure the next family member put in charge of In-N-Out was his younger son Rich. Growing up neither sibling was endowed with great athletic talent, looks or charisma, but Rich had a devout work ethic and a devotion to God and family unlike his older brother Guy. As a consequence of their father's decision, Rich Snyder spent his days in a plush executive office suite while his brother was banished to an In-N-Out warehouse dungeon in Baldwin Park. Inexplicably, unhappiness ensued.

Although Guy Snyder's main job description at the warehouse was tabulating fresh hamburger meat being unloaded from trucks, he spent most of his waking hours plotting a way to exit this living Hell. He grew a Tom Selleck mustache and dreamed of a world where he wasn't a dweeby incel, but a suave Formula 1 driver at the Grand Prix de Monaco, surrounded by sleek European supermodels like Claudia Schiffer. Or something like that.

Then fate intervened. On a late afternoon in December 15, 1993, Rich Snyder was aboard a IAI 1124A Westwind business jet making an approach to John Wayne airport (SNA) in Orange County. The NTSB report of N309CK is online so I won't detail it. Needless to say, after an unfortunate confluence of events and some tornadic wingtip vortices generated by a United Boeing 757, the Westwind crew and the very religious, born-again Christian Rich Snyder met their maker a few dozen yards from Crevier BMW at the Santa Ana Auto Mall. Thus Guy Snyder was thrust into an unlikely role as president of In-N-Out.

Of Bible verses and hot cocoa: Lynsi Snyder Biography - Brooksy

However there's another chapter to this saga. Three short years into his presidency of In-N-Out burger, Rich Snyder had become an even more bloated version of Chris Farley in Tommy Boy. Thankfully he had insulated himself with most of his brother's palace guard. Unfortunately that gave him additional time to devote more attention to the pleasures of the flesh-- in this case food with a heaping helping of drugs and alcohol. His body rebelled for a final time on December 4, 1999...leaving his daughter to head a fast food empire.

As a male I am not permitted to critique a female in anything but glowing words. So I shall let the politicians up in Tallahassee discover on their own what their open invitation to In-N-Out hath wrought. :innocent::yum

Honestly, I've only had one In and Out burger in Dallas. I do not understand the appeal, but I can't fault anyone for loving it.

Same for Five Guys. Other than a butt load of fries, which are great, btw, I don't get it.
