The pics behind Mike are not of him in his younger years. I’m somewhat younger than him but remember him well from when we were among the younger bodybuilders and muscleboys at Golds Venice. That was Mike in his younger days. I think that was probably after he left Golds Venice. He leaned out after he left. I would guess this was early 2000s.
I remember seeing a very old clip somewhere of Mike being a contestant on American Gladiators. Mike was the General Manager at Golds and all the Gladiators trained there. For some reason, they chose to be REALLY BRUTAL with him, getting additional punches in on camera even after he failed at a task. It was something to watch, and was the talk of the gym, I hear. There must have been something going on behind the scenes but he was really brutalized.
He was also on Love Connection. The episode is on Youtube. He made reference to living in San Diego so it was was obviously before his Golds days.
