So TMZ posted Jake Atlas' arrest video and biiiiitch lol This messy bitch had the gall to say Duke is bad at sex and a "nobody" in wrestling. I can't believe Duke took him back.
That was such a mess. I was having so much second-hand embarrassment watching that video.

Jake Atlas is also a nobody. Also the way he was trying to concoct a white/Mexican thing was very sad also

I like how Jake Atlas calls himself an “internationally trained superstar” as if he’s a big deal in wrestling. At this point, I’m convinced that AEW would sign former WWE janitors just to say they signed another person from WWE. He was released for a reason. Between his bad attitude, generic look and basic ring ability, he barely is considered enhancement talent.

Trying to make this a promotional warfare thing is lame as fuck.

I’m stating what it is. I highly doubt that Jake would have been performing anywhere on AEW if he wasn’t tied with WWE beforehand.
Then why isn't Braun in AEW? Why haven't Breeze and Fandango showed up? Why didn't they sign the IIconics? All much bigger stars yet they aren't there. Maybe it has nothing to do with WWE.

Also, are wrestlers supposed to just retire after leaving WWE? Why can't they show up elsewhere without a fuss being made about them being ex-WWE talent?

Most of the AEW roster is made up of talent who had careers in promotions that aren’t WWE or on the indies beforehand. Jake Atlas was well known on the indies for years before he was brought to NXT. That’s how he got there. The wrestling world is enormous outside of AEW, WWE, and NJPW (which is older and more established than either U.S. giant). People who push the American-focused binary don’t understand how wrestling actually works.

Actually no fuss was made by me. It was you that made a fuss and made this into a comment about “promotional warfare”. I’m a fan of both products but I have also critiqued both WWE and AEW. I have no dog in the fight between both companies.

My comment about AEW was in the context of his arrogance in the arrest video. He is attempting to put on an air of being some sort of superstar in wrestling. This confused me given that he wasn’t a household name in the indies, didn’t amount to much in NXT and was signed to AEW shortly after being released only from WWE (like I said, it is my belief that his previous employer being WWE helped him get signed), only working a couple of matches.

I don’t know why the wrestlers weren’t signed to AEW. This could have been their choice. I never called Jake a WWE guy, just that his employment with WWE helped him land a job in AEW, having less to do with his stardom or extroadinary ability.

I never claimed that the AEW roster was not made of people from other promotions. My comment was made in the context of his previous employer on his resume helping him get a foot in the door in AEW. All I was saying is that he got signed to AEW shortly after being released by WWE.

I also don’t consider him to have been well known in the wrestling world before his signing. This arrest video is the most press that he has gotten in his entire career.

My AEW comment was made in the context of his arrogance in the video. He is presenting himself as some sort of superstar in the wrestling world when his resume doesn’t add up to that. He has never been a huge name. That was my ultimate point.

He’s stupid and probably under the influence while trying desperately to shield his battered ego—I wouldn’t take anything he says seriously.

We could argue all day about how well known he was before NXT. I and every wrestling fan that I know knew who he was well before that point based on his indie bookings. He’d had press for being an openly gay pro wrestler on the rise. To be honest, I wasn’t sure who Duke was until we found out they were dating because I haven’t watched anything WWE in years. All of that being said, I get that not everyone is that kind of fan. I can accept that a lot of people didn't know Jake existed before he got to NXT. I doubt any of them worked for AEW though. They absolutely knew him from the indies. That’s my point.

I understand your point and respect it. All in all, the point of my post is that he hasn’t been the household name that he believes he is. I respect your opinion. My post wasn’t to down AEW’s roster….only to knock Atlas’ sense of importance down a few pegs. I’ve just never seen him as a huge name in the business.

I’m a fan of both WWE and AEW.

Did they actually get back together?
Yup. In his apology tweet, Jake specifically mentioned he has the support of his partner, then in Jake's new OF content, he is shooting in the exact same house as before, and Duke is always posting in the same house as well on Instagram.
