Are you able to stay hard with camera crews and creepy guys watching you have sex (with a meth'd up woman (or man as it may be) who has no interest in you regardless) under hot bright lights on the sterility of a movie set?

That matters more than the sheer size of your cock, but if that's the case move to LA/Hollywood and show off. Party, do drugs, get noticed on the social scene...or just email the studios and ask if you can get an audition.

I read somewhere that every time they add for porn actor they get like 10 auditions from girls. 7-9 of them with potential. And 500 auditions from guys of whom 498 is useless.

I AM an adult actor living in L.A. I'm newer, but have now successfully established myself and shoot with female talent weekly. I've worked with several girls from L.A. Direct Models--and a handful of other female pornstars, and just gained professional representation (agent) myself. It's taken me close to a year to get to this "professional" strata.

Large penis size is great, and does help you out. However, please remember that most male talent happens to be well-endowed... smaller and average guys tend not to want to show off as much-- go figure, ha ha.

It's mostly about performance and touching base with the right people. "Performance" means getting hard quickly, staying hard long enough, and cumming when you need to. Touching base with the right people means that you are capable of marketing yourself so as to gain work. Unfortunately porn is SLOOOOOOOOOOW right now. Yes... the economy has taken a huge toll on porn as in other industries.

Craigslist will post adds (in Los Angeles) for male talent all of the time. Most are for "solo" and "gay" projects. Boy-girl gigs are rare and getting rarer everyday. Plus... if the producer doesn't know you, or you don't know someone who will vouch for you, you don't really have a chance of booking the gig anyhow. On top of that... there are "Johnny-Porn-Producers" everywhere who act legit, but never end up shooting the scenes they promise you. So, you just sit there waiting for MONTHS on end, and have no work to show... no "resume" in the porn world. You are BEGGING for your first gig, just to have the footage required to convince other producers to book you. Until you get that initial footage, nobody wants to give you a chance.

If you are serious, you MUST MOVE TO L.A. PERIOD!!! End of story. Once you do that, feel free to reach out to me. I can then attempt to get you an "amateur" type gig through a couple of talent scouts I know who occasionally take a chance on new guys. These gigs pay peanuts and aren't too sexy. In fact, they won't even cover your mandatory AIM (STD) testing, which costs $130 EVERY month. However, you will work with REAL porn girls. If you do well... then you have footage for your "resume" and a chance at establishing yourself.

Just remember, most of the people claiming to be in the business are full of B.S. You need to try and get a scene--any scene--with a recognizable girl as quickly as possible... that's your ticket. If she likes you, then you're set. That's how I worked it, and I owe her and her "crew" a huge debt. That's the only way I've got to where I'm at. It becomes easier as your career builds. It's like any pursuit where the beginning is the most difficult. Now, I'm an owner/performer of a website, have hook-ups through AVN Award winners, am personal friends with famous porn girls, etc. I'm not saying this to brag, but to motivate you if you are serious. Like I said, I'm pretty much one year into it, and actually achieved "membership" into this very tight-knit and clandestine community. It can be done, but please be aware of the difficulty and reality of the situation.

Two possibilities:

1) do a lot of amateur porn and send audition tapes to various companies in the hopes that they see something they like.

2) get a girlfriend who gets into porn and be her guy.

Those are pretty much your only possibilities. Anything else is really a shot in the dark.

Ask yourself, though, whether that's something you really want. Just like in the mainstream acting world, the odds of you hitting it big -- or even making a living at it -- are small. Many, many guys think they have what it takes, but wilt under the lights and crew and pressure.

And if you do manage to be successful at it, you'll always be the porn guy. If you decide you don't like it anymore or find a better job, people will easily find out that you did porn. A lot of people won't like it. It could upset your family or friends in a big way. It almost certainly will make it difficult to have a relationship because few women (except for porn actresses) want a porn actor for a boyfriend. Or even a former porn actor. Just be aware of all the problems it could create. And that's if you succeed.

"Aloofman" is right about the difficulty of scratching a living for male porn actors. However, your odds change greatly if you transition into producing/directing/etc. Most female pornstars make a LOT of money early on simply by performing... but they burn out quick. Men in the industry begin as actors earning peanuts just to establish themselves. But our longevity (as men) far surpasses the hot female "stars." I enjoy acting in seens and earn a similar income to any college educated twenty something working in corporate America. So I can't complain--it's interesting work, and I have much more free-time than I did working my corporate job/s. However, my ultimate objective--and the objective of most smart male adult actors--is to put in my time as a "stunt-cock" and then segway into producing. I'm now a partner of a website where I have equal share of the profits. I perform with female talent for my (and my partners') website and reap the rewards of my toil through membership fees. I'm hoping to expand to other websites and eventually plan on managing the careers of a handful of female performers.

For SMART male talent, performing is just the beginning.
