Is it fashion..or fate :)

The reason why the topic is because my love is watching Bridezilla...I think it is, and she once made dresses being a dressmaker by trade but now a high ranking public official. But she still loves to get behind her machines to create stuff for her kids and grandkids in her spare time....her happy place as she calls me and sewing :) :)....

The dresses have somewhat shifted from cover up to some extent, to show it all.

It's just a question, wondering if it's a change in fashion, like the Bikini and swimsuit...confidence or other?

And yes, conversation :)

I'd say it's more to do with fashion hunni, I studied and worked as a dress maker altho I didn't really get, have the opportunity or particular interest in bridal gowns.
I was more interested in evening dresses but mostly ended up being involved in ball gowns and prom dresses, personally I'm not a fan of bridezilla or any of those reality shows, it's all too staged for my taste in TV xx

As mentioned my love loves her sewing....it's in her blood. She is working from home and the Minister of education sees her sewing machines in her office in the background...:) It's funny to overhear the conversations which extend from that when she has been working from home :)...

Anyway, I asked her what her thoughts are...and she could not answer....so I thought, well sounds like a thread on LPSG to ask :)

And...thanks for replying...I think it is fashion too....along with exhibitionism...maybe?

I have no clue about any of it. I've never been married, never would wear a dress like that even if I did.

Any of them. I literally don't own a dress or skirt anymore at all. I donated all of the clothes I never wear, so I have 0.

I remember giving away all my Levi jeans 30 years ago to my daughters friends.............Now they are worth 10 times more :)

Speaking of marriage...I'm Uniting...my first wife a Catholic. Back in the day if we did not sign our unborn children over to the Catholic church the marriage would not have taken place.

So if you donated all of your clothes...you are getting around naked?? I'm into that :)...yes..pervert mind too..

Ok hunni cool, are you a man or a woman if I may ask? X
You can ask any time........perhaps if you ask La or Ellie...they can fill you in.

I have avoided placing a verification photo simply because of individual perspective. Although, I could place about 5 past verification photos....and one now that would make some 30-40 year old male members not feel so good about themselves.

As I said the change in style is the change in fashion, and with changes in fashion so changes people's attitudes X

Seventies is a man! Lol! I can verify that!

I’ve been in dozens of weddings (as a musician and bridesmaid) and have seen the dresses change since the 70’s. I think it’s fashion. You can look at dresses from the various decades and pinpoint the prevailing fashion sensibility. It’s that decade, but all in one outfit.

I had a friend in Uni who did a massive paper on wedding dresses through the decade and their function as sociological reflection. It was a really interesting paper.

Geezus........and I was all prepared to show penis verification and body pictures .........damn....:) :)

Is it Fashion? Or is it pressure?......Look at it from our point of view. Is it men who pressure you to be ...something other....or is it men?

For me...I have 3 daughters....they..and I am saying this in the strictest confidence...........are not feeling pressure from their partners, but from female competition..... I end this question....because when my daughter asks me ..Why Dad? ...Sometimes a Dad does not have all the answers.

I wonder if part of it is that there's less expectation/assumption that a woman is a virgin prior to marriage now vs. the 70s. And as a result, there's more likelihood that she's willing to look sexy vs. chaste.

Please don’t send me any penis pics! I’ve seen enough of you to know who you are!

Sure there’s societal pressure for the fancy wedding. Growing up I had friends who were wedding obsessed. And I think there used to be a lot more pressure for the dress and a big wedding. People now seem to be a little more comfortable with choosing their own path - simple weddings, no wedding, Etc. But the pressure can come from anywhere. Moms who’ve dreamed about this day, friends who try to compete for the best wedding, etc.

Personally, I don’t begrudge anyone who wants the big wedding. It’s not my thing, but it’s a thing. I just think that sometimes youth find it more difficult to resist the influences of others. They fall prey to ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ and ‘Bridezillas’. But each couple needs to do what’s right for them. Getting married, not getting married, big wedding, a trip to the courthouse - whatever feels right for them.
