I vote NO to every drug use.
I love the sense of freedom and the drugs or alcohol or even ciggarets (why most people presists that nicotine isn't a drug) limits my freedom, my self awareness, my energy, my thoughts, my life and if at any point of my life have the need to commit suicide I will choose a quicker way to end my life, something more decent and maybe more heroic.

Technically, i would say oxygen is a drug...

My answer is don't be a smart as..... If you want to state something about the people who refuse to take drugs say it clearly. Pure Oxygen may be injuring if given in high amounts and for extended periods of time.
And technically when we breath air we don't inhale 100% oxygen thats why we don't die by toxic death.

Oxygen Toxicity: special chapter
Oxygen toxicity occurs due to its chemical effect on a cellular level. This excessive oxidation leads to death of cells where the impact occurs. Actually, this effect is correlated with time of exposure and what happens is an inflammatory reaction. First with the irritating action may appear the inflammation of the trachea and bronchi with middle chest pain. Then it may be followed by reduced lung space for exchange, rigidity of local tissues, altered balance of oxygen between air and blood, hypoxemia during exercise, and reduced diffusing capacity of gases that leads to CO2 retention and no oxygen is taken.
All this occurs while the injure is being established with lession of capillaries, swelling of the lungs, and cellular destruction.

I first tried pot in the fall of 1970. I didn't think much of it at first, and preferred beer to get buzzed. After puffing a few times, I began to appreciate what herb had to offer. I've always been fairly moderate, and never fell into the thing of wanting to smoke it constantly. Pot is almost legal here in California, especially if you have a medical marijuana prescription. I'll have a few bong hits after work to chill, and that's about it. I like good wine or a red ale on occasion, but I don't drink very often. I'm a live and let live guy. I don't care what anyone else likes to do, and it's his/her choice, but I wouldn't want anyone bring hard drugs into my home.

I don't want to say anything about those who don't take drugs.

I was being pedantic pure and simple. Not all drugs are bad, especially if taken in moderation.

Perhaps i should have just cut out trying ro be a wise guy and used caffeine as an example.

I not bothered about what other people want to do as long as it doesn't have to involve or have any impact on me - It's their choice.

As for my preferences - I wouldn't want to use stuff that would have any lasting damage on me or fuck me up long term. One of the reasons I don't drink very often is I find it gives me really bad skin, so I hardly ever drink now. Same for drugs.

Not all drugs are the same. It depends on the drug and how often. I'm fine with experimenting and rare or occasional drug use. I couldn't date someone who got drunk or high every day or too often.

I've done my share of experimenting, too. Besides, I'm a corrupter. Since dating me TheBF has smoked pot and we've done ecstasy once together, first time for both of us.

I'm bad.

an interesting addition to this poll would be to include mental health.

there's a correlation between mental health and increased alcohol and marijuana use. Those suffering from anxiety, social phobia, mood disorders, obsessive symptoms etc. find great relief in numbing some of their senses - I don't mean becoming an alcoholic or chronic stoner.

I'd be curious to see if those (on LPSG) who report the least frequent use of alcohol, marijuana and other drugs also have the least frequent reports of mental health concerns.

I do not advocate self-medicating with marijuana, which can be common among certain groups. Smoking pot all day, everyday bring on its own problems. However, if someone with mental health issues uses alcohol or marijuana to take the edge off, how is that any worse than taking a prescribed benzodiazepine? or over-medicating with prescribed drugs to control symptoms leaving the person emotionally blunted?

I leave whatever someone takes to themselves, for close friends i have a word of advice but i will not tell them what to do. it is nno reason for me not to socialize with someone.

I rarely take drugs, i don't drink very often, maybe twice a month, i have experienced with other drugs before, and i do think that is not a bad think, i embrace self knowledge.
And that includes the knowledge of the effect of certain substances.

Ahhhh ecstasy, now that takes me back to an amazing experience, after I got over feeling like I was going to die it was great! Never want to do it again though! Pot is not good for me, I like being hyper and peppy, that slow motion dud feeling does nothing for me. I would be more of a high flier drug user. But those are the only two I ever tried.

Cannabis is not as bad as alcohol, especially if smoked in a vaporizer, one can die from alcohol. NO one can die from weed; its believed you have to smoke your weight but no one has because its impossible. Real LSD and other hallucinogens can also be very beneficial to you although essentially you don't need them. They can show you the "door" but you have to walk through it. Alcohol and tobacco do nothing for you and are thus legal.

I'm not fond of drug use. Partly because I was raised with "drugs are bad m'kay" said a lot, so it has stuck with me, though I don't think they should be illegal, I just don't do them. Another part of it is because I was raised this way, then when I grew up I've come to find that damn near everyone who told me not to smoke pot or abuse prescription drugs does it, which annoys me to no end. So I feel like I can relate to people who don't do drugs. But I'm much more tolerant of it now than I was a few years ago. Still, I feel it would be hard for me to have a long term relationship with someone who is a habitual drug user, even something like pot which I don't care about really (except I hate the smell, so that could be a problem). Pot and hallucinogens are the ones I could tolerate in a relationship, but like I said, it could be hard.

Still, I try not to let it color me to much, and I feel I am getting better at it.

I saw this documentary on BBC America about this lady that decides to smoke pot for a month...gurlfriend's experiences with pot was scary and downright stupid.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7314812.stm

Anything in excess is bad. I couldn't date someone who got drunk every day. Occasionally using pot is okay with me

Ecstasy loosened TheBF's tongue. He said things to me I thought I'd never hear him say. Whatever inhibits him from expressing his feelings, ecstasy removed them. We also had anal sex for the first time, which felt amazing, of course, but after we came down it was obvious we had hurt my bottom. Lesson learned: anal sex and drugs don't mix!

I don't mind if my partner chooses to smoke cannabis. I smoke cannabis recreational about 2-times per month and i intend to keep it that way to ensure my health and social-life, since cannabis is not widely accepted in Sweden.

I've never taken drugs but I've been around people who do. Live and let live, you know? (I shoulda been a hippie!) At the same time though, the taking of drugs any harder than marijuana is an instant deal-breaker for me. And if you're doing marijuana everyday instead of a "once-in-a-while" type of thing in a social setting where others are doing it, I have to seriously question the long term prospects of our relationship.

Basically what it all comes down to is this: I don't want an illicit drug - regardless of the type of drug it is - to be something you HAVE to do to get through the day. I know people in "real-time" that absolutely MUST smoke weed to get through their day. They "wake-n-bake" and it's the last thing they do before falling asleep for the evening. And if they have enough, they do it for lunch as well. It's a daily routine for them. That type of person, I can't have in my life romantically.

I at least tried just about every drug going in my salad daze.
The only ones that really took were pot and alcohol, both of which I use in moderation. (Once a week use is probably my usual rhythm.)
Every once in a while, I have a hankering to try mushrooms again, but I don't seem to do anything about it.
I'm sorta immoderately moderate, imo.
