This ^^

Depression isn't something that just happens because you had a shitty day and it made you crabby.
no one said that, only you did. Making attempts to get out of a bad mood is an important treatment. Ive had depression my whole life been on dozens of meds nothing works. So i challenge myself or CBT as they would call it. Personally I find meditation helps, yoga, the gym. So the question still stands how do you fight depression? You've instead decided to sass me and give no real answer. Typical pretentious LPSG crew i see "how it really is". derr its not a bad mood, the fuck it isnt lol. Its categorized as a mood disorder.

Ill break it down for you guys since you dont understand the question-

when you have something called depression, it entails moods that interfere with your everyday life. It would be wise to make attempts to get out of these bad moods.
you arent defenseless if you have depression there are ways to get out of it if even for just a day or even for long term. medications touch the chemical imbalances but that doesnt work for some and it doesnt suddenly make you "happy" as those commercials suggest. I really dont want to break down further what depression is but the question should be easy to answer. If the question is unrelatable to you then just dont answer. ;)

I just try to stop negative thought and think positive. It comes in waves, it’s sucks, and in all honesty, I’ll pobably never be happy. What is happy anyway and who said you need to be happy.

Conversely, maybe happiness comes in waves and depression is the normal state - how should we look at it...

In think there are different levels of depression

Some are so intense that the necessitate medication and professional care....others times its a bout you can ride out

A metaphors I'm gonna use.....like an infected cut.....if you have an infected cut....often if you do nothing but keep the cut clean and in air....it will be fine.

Other times.....damn if you don't get care it's gonna be debilitating and life
threatening

Now here is just a theory I have from observation with note much data to back up

Sometimes when you feel that depression conning on early....you can snap out of it....much like disifecting cut early

I think the best trick is.....fake it till ya make it......wake up...get up...force yourself to smile...there is acual some evidence that suggest smileing can really effect you well being.....listen to some up beat music....do some moldy vigorous activity....(i say mildly...get the blood flowing but not knock you out....like shoot some baskets Or play catch..(.....get in well lot areas and sunshine...watch a comedic movie

Now will this coping strategy always work....no.....but its definely worth a try....

I think this is the kinda answer you looking for....the other ones are more like a public service announcement

"Deprestion is a serious condition....blah blah blah.....should you feel....blah blah.....seek the help of a medical professional"

But you probably know that by now

Things not to do.....
1. Self Medicare with booze or street drugs(by far the most FUN but LEAST productive coping stratagy
2.ignore a major problem
3. Join Scientology and work it out with tom cruise through vitamines and exercise

Also one of the best named ever on lpsg

If I ever get banned...I and come back with new name.....it's gonna have a rank as well

I would be honored to be your executive officer......as majorwoody

Dude, your thread is titled: "How do you fight depression" and then your original post is "what gets you out of a bad mood."

They are not the same thing and they do not have the same remedies. It's not a sass to point that out.

So, you could have explained a bit more in the original post rather than providing the lack of detail you did. When you phrase it the way you did it simplifies and dismisses the impact depression has on a person.

Calling it a "bad mood" was Your call. Not mine. I have lived with severe depression. I would never refer to it as a "bad mood".

And you haven't seen sass... You think I was sassing you in my post? Hilarious.

I can see how that happens.....

Patients discription often very....

An example ....a paticularly stoic older long term patient of mine....she has to be ...like dead a week ago before she complains

I don't know if is cultural norm or just the individual.(mexican immigrant who dispute being 66 and rich still cleans houses cause to stay home would make her feel "boring and useless"

Once knew her to have two torn ligaments in her knee....walked around like this for months...."Dr tim I just lean on other leg"

Anyways on visistbshevwss complaining about her mood......just in bad mood....the rattled of 6 of the 9 symptoms for major depression.....the kicker....how long has this lasted "6 months...it will pass"

Anyways even the diagnose.....well it's kinda arbitary......according to dsmv5

Difference between sadness and depression.....

Depresstion.....at least 5 of 9 symptoms
(there is a list...I just don't feel like typing it....besides I get long and winded boring enough)
For at least 2 weeks....

But what if it's 13 days

Or 4 symptoms for 3 weeks

Personally I try to get the gist of what people are saying....not necessarily the symantics

For me, exercise, proper nutrition, sleep, and... shock of shocks... sex.

I realize that some people may be depressed, because they are going through a crisis, and, cannot maintain their routines for that reason. To those people, I would say only this: try to keep as much of a routine as you can. It will get better.

I definitely agree with Tight_N_Juicy for me it has always been music, talking to someone who geninuely cares(which is hard to find these days), and not staying cooped up in your house get out and go for a walk or drive or stay at a friends place or if you have the money go get a hotel room in a city far away from where you live...change your environment. I also like to listen to calming music for me its rain falling. I will sit in a room with headphones on lights off and just lay down and clear my head and just focus on the rain falling.
