Freshly in a new city and I am so FUCKING lonely and it is taking its toll. I moved away from all my friends and I am 30 and don't know how to make new ones. I work from home so I just get cabin fever and go cruise around.

How do you meet people?

I'm an introvert like crazy, but some friends of mine have had good luck with MeetUp.com for finding folks they have an interest in common with. When I was living in Arizona, one of the people who became a close friend of mine, I knew from a firearm related forum. In any case, carefully looking online can yield good results. Just be mindful of your safety and meet in public places, etc.

Meeting people is one thing. Making friends another. At least to me.

As for meeting people, one of my friends once commented on Yes Man had to been written based on me. ;) If offered a chance to meet new people I usually go for it.

As for friends, as in really close friends, it's another story. I'm probably not allowing people to get really close to me anymore, so all my closest friends are from years back.

I was going to suggest Bumble BFF... when I changed jobs and ended up in a new part of the city, I was looking for lunch friends... and I didn't see many that weren't just on there to make new contacts for their small business/MLM. Maybe your area is different.

In my area, there are a handful of meetup type groups... most are focused on outdoor activities/sports.

What kind of activities do you enjoy? Are there any new skills/hobbies you'd like to learn? This could be a prime opportunity to learn something new... new city, new hobby, new friends... win-win-win!

Volunteer in something you’re passionate about, or take classes you are into. Something where you’ll see the same people over and over again. I’ve been in the same situation and it can take some time. Just take your time and you’ll find your coven.

If your location is correct, and I’m seeing a swath in 100 miles north and south, you are one of MANY, MANY new people.

What are your interests?
What sort of peeps do you want to hang out with?
What activities are you likely to do somewhat steadily?
Do you have a faith community of any sort, from Pagan to straightlaced churchy?
How about something g else in personal philosophy, like veganism or animal welfare?

I didn't realize they had a bumble for just friends. I love to hike and recently got a bike. I wanna explore the mtns. I also want to learn pottery so maybe I'll take a class.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Looks like I'll try bumble and meet up and take a class. :)
