I have not long finished an unusually long day at work and am so tense, apart from the usual hot bath and relaxing music do you have any sure-fire ways to unwind?

I used to work 12 hours shifts, 4 or 5 days in a row. I relaxed by watching a little TV and going to sleep.

Basically you dont. I have worked 12hr shifts for 15 yrs. Add travelling time and you're talking 14hours. It's just work, sleep, work, sleep and so on.

Turn all of your phones off, get naked, smoke a bowl, and wait for the silence to get loud. It works every time...for me at least:biggrin1:

I relax by finding a cold drink, some food, and watching TV, doing computer stuff or immersing myself into an RPG. XD

If not that, I definitely sleep.

no 12 hr shift for this boy, but I'll tell you this much; grab something cold, watch tv, and play the most violent game on hard works for me after a grueling day.

    Like a girls perspective?

I don't work long days, but I do get stressed.

Once a week i get either a manicure or pedicure or both.

But you will probably benefit by having just one glass of favorite wine or your favorite beverage and sit in a quiet room.

It's sort of self-pampering and we all need that.

Watch something that takes very little thought, like old early-90s sitcoms. Something you can just sit back and absorb without having to over-think it. Grab a cold drink and prop your feet up on the coffee table like you just don't give a damn.
If you have video games, play something familiar that won't frustrate you.

I get some food, put on my headset, and listen to relaxing music. It works for me every time.

The best way for me personally to unwind after a seriously long day of work is to climb into bed, snuggle up and put on a DVD (usually something that requires little to no attention - Family Guy for example) and just watch it until I fall asleep. This never fails to help me unwind.
