I have a genuine problem with this as well. x.x; All I can say is uhm, good luck.

Some have advised that I hang out where more gay men might be. That's a maybe for me, due to my preconcieved notions about such areas. :x

Burningvenus,
So I assume that any man who doesn't gawk at you as you walk by is presumed gay. ..

I don't presume anything, I'm talking about something I notice. I'm unusual looking, so I get a lot of stares. And you can learn a lot about yourself and others in something as simple as a passing glance.

 <--- this look is too much. I prefer this  or this:wink:.

A gay man might be more like . If hes like my gay friends, he's a safe warm place to land. That absence of sexual tension can make for strong friendships. And those friends tend to like some of the things that I like -- fashion, style, decor, art, gardening, wittiness, fitness, good film and of course, hot men :biggrin1:

That sounds pretty much like a stereotype. Some straight men know that double and triple takes make women feel uncomfortable. Unless your only attracted to the insecure lust hounds.

Hey guys thanks, I have no idea what a "gaydar alert" feels like so as of now, I can check if he is making out with the guy next to him and thats about it.

How do you tell if a guy is gay

1)ask him
2) grab his ass/crotch and wait for a response...may not be the response you want..but at least you will have your answer

I have always had a great gaydar so I usually don't have a problem... But it is getting harder with stereotypes evaporating, metrosexuality and gay men not wanting to be stereotypes anymore...

Two things a friend told me to look for that I have found to be true a lot of the time is Fingernails and Pockets...

His theory was that gay guys will usually have nice, clean, manicured fingernails (for aesthetic and practical reasons) wheras straight guys tend to not show much concern in that area.

As for pockets he reckons that gay guys tend to like a smooth leg so will have smaller wallets/phones and carry less so their trousers hang well. Straight guys tend to pile everything they own in their pockets resulting in unsightly side bulges...

Maybe a bit stereotypical and not always true but I think it is pretty accurate a lot of the time :biggrin1::rolleyes:

This is an interesting & funny response. I especially like the part about how gay guys don't have "unsightly side bulges". My side bulges are definitely unsightly & lack a sense of fashion for sure. :biggrin1:

according to rosie odonnel, you tell that a man is gay if he wants to toss the salad.

It takes one to know one, but I do know of guys who fall for straight guys and end up wishful thinking that they're gay, so careful with that. There are also gay or bi men in the closet so even if your gaydar goes off it doesn't mean these guys will make themselves available to you. If you ask these men they'll say "no", but if you catch them in discrete situations, establish eye contact, they might respond. Good luck!

He he. I did say there were exceptions to the rule... But something tells me your bulges might not have anything to do with what's in your pockets and I bet it is the opposite of unsightly!! DAMN!

A straight man will not hold eye contact for very long, it is natural instinct. It is generally a glance and back...if in conversation with someone, a straight guy will not look directly into yours eyes for long, but will break the stare and come back to having eye contact...he will repeat this for the length of the conversation.

This is the best way of telling and is a major part of the so called "gaydar" that some have referred to in this thread. There is a unexplained feeling that when two gay guys look into each others eyes, that something happens..it is almost like a "rush" for lack of better words.

Some stereotypical things that also tend to work are a swish to their walk and a "gay accent", mannerisms (they say gay guys tend to use their hands when talking, more than straight men) which are present with some gay guys, but not always.

The answer to this was once hilariously demonstrated on an episode of Murphy Brown on T.V. Tell the man in question that he has something stuck on the bottom of his shoe. If he picks his foot up in front of him & looks at it he is not gay. If he flings his foot in the air behind him & throws his head back to look he's gay. SIMPLE...........

Funny thing really for me.... I get a tingle in my cock like you get when you just start getting a hard on. I can look at a good looking str8 man and not get hard, but if I see a man that is gay, my dick twinges a bit. Tha's how I know and I have been more right than wrong.
