I agree. I'm thankful that the only X-rated pics I have out there don't have my face in them. In fact, I don't imagine I would ever take a full-bodied nude photo even if the photographer assured me that it would remain confidential. That way, my ass is covered, and if something were to go down, then I would take measures to protect myself.

I learned that the Internet can become a very small place very quickly, so once I get my professional life started, I might have to take down a few photos. That won't stop those already out there from being circulated, and I came across a user online who said that my nude boy was his. (Whatever.) But that's not enough to really jeopardize me.

I was going to say the same thing. How is it they came to find you on LPSG in the first place :p

The obvious problem is that it's not likely to stay here. Anything you post anywhere on the 'net could turn up just about anywhere else. Once it's escaped it's out of your control for good.

Once something is posted on the net you would be very lucky indeed to be able to delete it. If you haven't discovered it yet have a look at the ultimate archive of the internet at http://www.archive.org - type any address into the wayback machine and find sites you thought had been zapped.

Most businesses are now doing internet searches on anyone important they deal with. If you post your name here or anywhere else it can potentially be traced. Even a nickname that you use in other contexts.

For example if I were checking a guy on the internet I'ld start with the obvious, but also try some less obvious. If I had heard him answering to the nickname Norseman I'ld check that. And if I found for Norseman an avatar of a huge cock I'ld certainly see what other info I could find fom the site about Norseman and see if it fits what I know of the guy I'm checking.

If you use a nickname on this board it needs to be one you only use on this board.

I guess I am pretty much exposed, but so be it. I don't see anything wrong with posting nude pictures of myself. If someone wants to make an issue of it, and they're in a position of power over me, it might be for the best that I am not in their sphere of control anyhow. It's ridiculous to think that someone can get fired for something like this. The world's too big and too diverse to let others dictate your morality to you, I think.

I try very hard not to be exposed. I thought long and hard about placing my face as an aviator here but finally decided to do it anyway. As far as I know there are no images of my naughty bits on the W3. I make it a rule not to do that. Over a year ago in a fit of paranoia I removed all postings, profiles, etc and my personal W3 site from the web. No doubt there are still remains.

I have a friend whose picture appeared on a site called Daddy Swap. He freaked out. He has never been able to get it taken off the site. He answers a lot of ads on-line and used to share pictures but not anymore. He's dressed in the picture but... He lives in a small town and has been confronted by a neighbor about his Yahoo! profile. He weaseled out f it somehow. I don't want to be in the position.

Here are two articles you may want to read from Wired magazine:

How Long Is Your Digital Trail
http://www.wired.com/news/culture/0,1284,65895,00.html

'UnGoogleables' Hide From Search
http://www.wired.com/news/privacy/0,1848,68998,00.html

The first article is what set me off in 2004. Check it out.

It's a bit scary but do a Google search on your common name, full name and city and the name you use on-line. Be sure to click search images as well. Images can and often do have names and odd designations to them. You may be surprised and upset by what you find.

I think the answer is not to post any information at all if you want to be completely secure. Failing that, you takes your chances. Personally, I don't know if it would stop me getting or giving a job to someone based on their dick size, but I'm a young, stupid Aussie at the end of the day! LOL

Guys, enjoy your freedom and carry on having fun.

i have a couple of R rated webcam captures that several people have seen. a while back i saw one of them as some guy's (who i didn't know) adult yahoo profile picture. there is no way to be 100% safe, but i have been more careful about who i show anything to, plus anything with my face is clothed.

(I'm listed as a member only because there's apparently no way to get off this island...)

On January 10th 2006, Rob, the site administrator, in a post that questioned teen acccess to this site, noted "no nude avatars". This is his site. I respect his wishes. My avatar has been removed. I have removed myself from this site as well. It's apparently not the site that I thought I signed up for.

Thanks all,

Norse

A few things to balance precariously :) in mind ...

What we do on the Internet echoes in eternity.

You only live once, so live life out loud and proud.

What is the probability someone will find you here? What is the probability they will be offended or care at all? What is the probability that they will go out of their way to out you? What is the probability that whomever they show or tell will care, etc.

It's a question of cost/benefit ratio. The risk of something coming back and biting you in the ass in a week, a year, or a decade, may be small but it's not zero. The benefit you derive from posting the same something is ... what, exactly?

Here, I posted just enough pictorial evidence to establish my bona fides as a person qualified to have opinions and knowledge about the subject at hand, and that's it.

I was in a "Sundance" type film several years back where I did full frontal with full face. All I was wearing was 1/2 a bottle of baby oil. I was asked to shave all my pubes, flex and basically make love to the camera with my eyes. They weren't much interested in my acting ability. I wasn't pleased with the results but apparently someone was because it won several awards. The writer/director was a guy I was seeing at the time and he was a graduate art student and...it was never supposed to amount to much. He begged and pleaded for me to be in it and I finally gave in. There were still photos that accompanied it. I hope nobody makes the connection and figures out it was me. It's not like it was a fleeting glance or anything, I was on film for quite a while. It was shown mostly in Europe but here too. I don't want to see it until I'm much older and fairly wretched looking. I can only imagine if this were found and shown in my professional circle. I guess I could laugh it off. I did some modeling after that but they were all PG shots.
