I don't know what I'm really trying to achieve here. Uhm. Arguing with statists, to me, is a lot like arguing with creationists. They have so much blind faith in their governmental overlords. Hell, look at everyone turning a blind eye to Obama's atrocities in the Middle East, issuing the murder of an American civilian per dronestrike and 2 weeks later, the murder of his son. People don't care. No one cares. It's 'your guy' doing the killing, so you can wave your flag and yell USA, USA, while still not getting enough of bitching about Bush. Who (don't get me wrong is a monster is well), has far less blood on his hands. But yeah, let's blame Bush for what the current commander in chief is doing. It's not like Obama has the final say over the troops.. oh wait.
And libertarianism has never worked because it has never been applied, including in the old west. Even then, the market was fairly heavily regulated and several central banks were erected (and subsequently shut down... here's a nice tidbit about those evil bankers.. The American government started the second American central bank to fund the War of 1812, because those bloodthirsty bankers didn't want to lend money to the angelic American governmental to go into a war that the people didn't want).
Word, though. Paul's economic policies are insane. Let's take our word from the Nobel Prize winning economist PaulKrugman. His Keynsian policies are a blueprint for current American financial policy. Check this quote.
To fight this recession the Fed needs more than a snapback; it needs soaring household spending to offset moribund business investment. And to do that, as Paul McCulley of Pimco put it, Alan Greenspan needs to create a housing bubble to replace the Nasdaq bubble.
Compare that guys like Peter Schiff and Ron Paul, who predicted the housing bubble crash as early as 2002. A dollar bill from 1860 was worth more 50 years later because it was backed by gold. Why the FUCK would you wanna go back to something crazy like that?
And let's not forget. His isolationaism is definitely crazy as well. You know, let's forget that America used to be very highly regarded in the Middle East in the early 20th century. Syria even wanted to be GOVERNED by America at the time. All those warnings in the '50s about America's involvement in the Middle East are clearly bullcrap (as you can tell by the current resentmen tthere and 9/11) Pssh who cares! It's better to plant puppet dictators all over the world. Get involved! Ron Paul isolationism of wanting to open up trade and diplomacy with the world, rather than bombing them and funding corrupt governments would open America up to a lot of bloodshed.
