I suppose these readings might make sense since I define myself as "quite liberal" as opposed to "far-left wing."

Hmm, Pappy, you and I seem to be more in line with each other than the other two posters. I realize the questionaire was very short, and some of the answers didn't really fit, but some of those 100% conservative results disturb me... :p

Truth be known, I'm actually fiscally very conservative, socially/ethically very liberal, and politically, very minimalist. I'm a hyper-patriot, and a USMC veteran. But currently, I refuse to stand or salute the flag or honor our national anthem. I will change that when the bushy-administration is out of office, the Scalia-types are out of the Supreme Court, and when the federal government gives me back the first 14 amendments to MY US Constitution.

I couldn't respond to the Social Security question since both choices were incorrect.

Some of these will be liberal either way:

11. It's more important for our country

Reduce the deficit and national debt
To help the poor and helpless

Reagan and Bush racked up record deficits, only to have their son break the record. The current "starve the beast" ideology is that record deficits via upper-class tax cuts will force the government to downsize and thus reduce the deficit.

Others show the same problem. Rehnquist's known for his loose interpretations of the law. (See Oliphant v. Suquamish and Duro v. Reina for more details.)

Overall: 35% Conservative, 65% Liberal
Social Issues: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal
Personal Responsibility: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal
Fiscal Issues: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal
Ethics: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal
Defense and Crime: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

While we're here, there are more than two ideologies. Ideologies generally provide a mechanic for why their ideas supposedly work as well: Communists have class conflict, laissez-faire capitalists have a very twisted interpretation of natural selection, and neocons have a bunch of postmodern drivel mixed with religious fervor.

20% Conservative!
Just how the fuck did that happen?

They're going to take away my screaming liberal membership card!

25% Conservative on "Social Issues"?
Oh, just shoot me now. I have no reason to live.

Yee haw! Looks like Dee and I are the only "100% Liberals" on defense and crime. :D

Some of those questions cross the line from "forcing you to make the tough choices" into "forcing you to make stupid choices."

Having said that, here are my results:

Your Political Profile
Overall: 10% Conservative, 90% Liberal
Social Issues: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal
Personal Responsibility: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal
Fiscal Issues: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal
Ethics: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal
Defense and Crime: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal

Not exactly surprising to me, but not entirely representative of my thoughts, either. I suspect we are all more complex than this one can capture.

Fun, though! (Just as you expected, TexAssgirl.)

EDIT: Looks like I'm "weak" on crime too, Mark.

I didn't think I was so socially conservative. LOL I always thought of myself as being more of a moderate Republican. I hope y'all will still love me :p

I did this for fun too. I think my only surprise is on fiscal issues, but I think I know why (see below). I know I'm liberal on almost every social/personal issue.

Your Political Profile
Overall: 5% Conservative, 95% Liberal
Social Issues: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal
Personal Responsibility: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal
Fiscal Issues: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal
Ethics: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal
Defense and Crime: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal

Both jonb and I found the same question very hard to answer.

I agree with him that in the current political climate in the U.S., both responses reflect a liberal point of view. I ended up choosing the more liberal of the two, I suppose. And like Pecker, I had a hard time with the Social Security question too. I haven't been fully convinced that there is any problem with the system that has to be addressed at this time. Unfortunately, "none of the above" was not an allowed response. :D

My only complaint is not that it's so simplistic, but that for many of the questions, both choices are wrong!

That's it, isn't it? (And both are, for me, vital priorities.)

What interesting results we're seeing here!

(It's all about prevention and education, isn't it, Mark? :D )
