There have been a lot of people that have recently posted saying that they used to be lurkers are lpsg, and I'm curious to find out how long each of you waited until you decided to stick your neck out and post on the boards.

My story: I posted immediately after about 5 mins of poking around when I found the site since I had a question that I wanted answered. After that I didn't start posting much, but I gave it a couple more days and then realized how good this site and the people that populate it was and so I stuck around and kept posting. (Would also like to thank everyone on here for putting up with me, and to those that I've come to consider close friends :) )

a couple of days... more so I could look round the site, read some posts - so I wouldn't look dumb when posting a question or something already posted.

It took me about two weeks before I joined, but I don't post very often as I have had little to add to what has been said. I'm impressed with a number of the frequent posters and will rant if it ever seems appropriate (or inappropriate too if I feel like it.)

I think it took me about 3 months. There were so many good points, explanations, etc. that I felt like I couldnt make a useful contribution.
But now I know that I can just spew out any crap I like, and if even if it gets ignored, at least I didnt waive my right to free speech. :)

P.S. If you dont like this post, go to hell and we'll discuss it when I get there.

gamma_phi: I posted when I finally had something meaningful to say. But that's just me. Otherwise, I could've posted within seconds.

carolinacurious: When I first found this site, I only had internet access at work. We had an interesting policy where it was ok if we READ message boards at work (within reason) but it was instant termination if we got caught posting on one.

So I actually "lurked" (unwillingly) for years.

It only took me a day or two to post. Once I had read enough to get the gist of the site, I knew I wanted to be involved. Haven't shut up since!

I was rather new to the internet and played the wallflower here for several months before I even knew what lurkage was.

I think I originally came here thinking "oh another dick site - I'll check out a few
pics and take off". But come to find out, there were some great conversations going on. So, a couple of days later, I blurted out a message about something, can't remember what. And am now addicted. And its not about cocks. :) Well mostly.

Almost to a person, those of you that post here are interesting as hell. Try finding THAT on AOL. Hugz yall.

I guess it took poking around for 4 or 5 visits. That was about a week after finding the site and about the same time I became a member.

Like others I found the mix of people stimulating, funny, and the posts intellegent (mostly) and thoughtful (mostly).

I could never be a lurker because LPSG has a such a great communal feeling- like a family. Even if I feel like the curmudgeonly old uncle sometimes

From the first time I found the site to the first time I posted: about 2 years!

When I fisrt stumbled across an earlier version of this site, I got the feeling that it was primarlily for homo/bisexuals, and since my interests aren't there, I didn't come back.

I stumbled here again last summer, I noticed a much greater variety of people posting including many women. My first post was in response to a Madam Zora post.

I think this will be post #379. You can't shut me up now!

I know that I "joined" before logging out of the site once I found it ! :)

My first post would have been either that same day or soon thereafter.

I found the site and just studied it for about an hour. I decided to join then, and waited for a quite a while to post because I was rather intimidated. But after reading such a variety of insights, and realizing this wasn't just a porn site, I started posting after about a month or so. I got on the site for a little bit most days. But time is often limited, so sometimes it's only for a few minutes.

I have a great deal of admiration for many of you. I find most of you remarkably intelligent and thoughtful in your observations. I like the variety. Although I haven't made any close friends here, I've enjoyed the contact I have made with all of you. I'm glad Kimarhi contacted me, and we've talked shop about bipolar crap some, and decided we are friends.

I've also introduced Mrs Beautiful (my new wife) to the site, and she is fascinated, slightly confused, but so far, so good. Maybe she'll get brave and post sometime. You would like her insights.

    Thanks for the thread, Altarion.

    Buff
