How many chances does Mel Gibson deserve?

He's a hypocrite, banging on about how religious he is, and acting like a twat. Should be the other way round - quietly religious (if he wants?) and behaving well.

^ OMG! The only two movies I owned of his were Tequila Sunrise and Lethal Weapon 4. I'll never be able to watch them again. They just got tossed in the garbage.

Not anymore. His day is done - just like Tom Cruise. It's a shame because I used to like Mel. It always amazes me when people have so much and just throw it all away. We can certainly see why he and his first wife split up now. I wonder how much money he paid her to shut her up about all of the abuse she must have endured.

Anyway, I don't think Mel Gibson deserved the first "chance" he got.

I kinda feel a bit sorry for him now (after trashing him, lol).
He's been a complete arse over the past five years or so, but it is slightly horrifying when someone heads into an obvious train-wreck situation.
I agree with one of the above posters who mentions a personality disorder. Isn't he prone to depression, and threw himself into the Passion of Christ film in order to stave off suicidal feelings?
He kinda seems to have oddly extreme views on stuff (racism, religion, etc) - maybe to do with his upbringing (isn't his Dad a racist loon?). Maybe the staunch Catholicism triggers extremism directed towards himself as well as others?

Maybe the screaming rant can be more accurately translated as "After my anti-semitic D.U.I. rant, I'm kryptonite to every Jewish Hollywood studio, producer and agent and I can't get any work!"
