What is Gear?

Gear:
A slang term for steroids, syringes, and any other steroid-related equipment.

obviously we dont know since they dont talk about it, but i would assume at least over 90% of the male performers are on shit. What do you guys think?

Be very careful going forward with comments in this thread so you don't run afoul of LPSG's Terms and Rules:

Accusations of criminal acts against anyone, including models/celebrities/influencers, is not permitted unless you have verifiable proof. This includes illegal drug use and escorting.

Almost all of the A-level porn stars are "bodybuilders" in the sense that they proactively work out in order to increase their muscle mass. Look out for the ones who continue to grow in size at the rate that a teenager going through puberty (nature's steroid cycles) grows. When a natty begins lifting, he could possibly gain 20-40 pounds of muscle, depending upon how muscle deficient he was to start with, but after that, the gains slow really down. In fact, the first 10 pounds of growth are the easiest. But since most of the A-list stars have already gone through their natty stage before their first film, then any big change becomes suspect.

Anyone whose career is centered around their physical fitness will reach a point where they need to make a decision about PEDs.

I don't know about commercial porn, but at the highest levels of sport and fitness modeling, all or nearly all people use PEDs. To not use them means never rising to the competitive level of performers and athletes that do use them. You can hang your hat on being "all natural", but if sex didn't sell, the models wouldn't be using them in the first place.

The market of influencer-pushed PEDs is also huge. IG fitness celebrities will, for a price, tell you the compounds you can get that are "not illegal" and are not tested in stricter competitions, and recommend cycles for your own use. The downside is that you are putting god knows what into your body, based solely on the recommendations of hot guys from Instagram.

Sat what you will about illegal steroids, but at least they have been around for a while and the science behind their use has been pretty well documented and explored. The unlabeled research chemicals you get from an unknown chemical plant may not be illegal, but it's very much a "use at your own risk" situation.

I remember a porn star with a very unusual tattoo (you know who!) posting a vid of him injecting them

Why would you assume that?
Because you can't attain that type of physique?

It's really not anyone's business unless your are perhaps competing in a natural bodybuilding contest. My opinion on this topic, which is brought up from time to time, has gone from curiosity to "scientific" analysis to realizing that it's none of my fucking business. Sure, there are guys in porn and on Only Fans and YouTube who are on gear, but there are plenty of guys out there who simply work out as intensely as a professional athlete, because in a sense they are. They eat responsibly, get proper rest, avoid alcohol and other drugs, and simply put 100% effort in the gym. Since their livelihood is to look fucking awesome, they take it seriously.

You don’t know my physique lol. Also you are clearly using stuff yourself So why throw shade?
It was just a question.... And, by your defensive response & assumption that 90% are using, it does indicate where your physique is on the spectrum.
Also, thank you for thinking I'm "clearly using stuff"! I must look better than I thought, if you think that.
I've been working on my body for over 30 years. I'm glad it shows. Lol.
The truth is: I am subject to random drug tests... Through my job & I'm in the testing pool for BJJ/MMA events.
So, risking my employment and/or record wouldn't be the wisest thing to do.

If you're asking your original question, to see if that type of physique is possible, the answer is: no idea.
People who ask those types of questions sound like they're looking for an excuse to not work hard.
Like what has been said in other threads here.. You get out of it, what you put into it.
You want to think everybody that's in better shape than you is using drugs? Knock yourself out.
The bitter pill that most don't like to swallow is that drugs don't do the work for you. People who go that route work harder, not less.
If you like, I'm happy to share my weekly workout regimen & meal plans.

I don't care who uses drugs.
That's their choice.
If I want to make changes/improvements, I'll work towards them..... Not sit around and whine because others are working harder than I am.

@ColonelLingus you were warned directly. DIRECTLY. Reading is fundamental.

So my question is whining to you? You misread it then. Athletes, YouTube fitness stars, body building community, celebrities for movies often use performance enhancers to get to their peak. My question is pondering how often pornstars (who needs to maintain their physique for years) turn to using performance enhancing drugs.
A fit physique is achievable if you put the time into it but there are boundaries for the majority of people when it comes to that next level vascularity and growth. That’s just a fact.

you seem to be in denial that gear enhances performance I mean that’s why it’s banned in professional sports. No judgement at all from my end you seem defensive about it. Do you think The Rock is natural at 50 looking like Arnold at his peak in his 20s? I mean come on.

I guess the rock just sort of hit a second puberty in his 40s? Neat. At least he has admitted to trying steroids he has not admitted to doing them recently though. Certainly most of the WWE has admitted to using them.

I understood your question perfectly.
It just had the stink of so many others who have asked similar, looking for reasons they aren't in better condition, other than considering the possibility that they aren't working nearly as hard as they think they are.
If you can show me where I denied that those drugs work for people, I'd love to see it.
And there is no way on Earth you could possibly estimate that "90%" of performers are using drugs. Don't see too many 275 lb guys with 4% body fat on screen.
Using vascularity as an indicator is piss-poor at best.
The veins you see all over my arms, etc, were there when I was 115lbs. It's just the way some of us are built.
If you read my response as being defensive, you read it wrong.
At best, it was the result of a more and more common assumption from every skinny fat snowflake that puts in 1/20th of the work to even be in average shape, looks in the mirror with disappointment, and proceeds to claim that everybody in better shape is using drugs.... Simply because their tiny minds can't even consider that maybe their results are a product of their effort.
I see it as a disservice & disrespectful towards people who work as hard as it takes to get physiques that others appreciate.

What a minefield. Still, I'll step in.

1) Scott Herman's physique is widely believed to be attainable naturally. People say he hasn't grown much in the past 10 years, "simply" maintaining a great shape which is probably around the maximum of his natural capacity. For reference, he is a YouTube fitness person. Seems plausible.
2) Greg Doucette (a YouTube roid expert of sorts) called the physique of male "Love Island" participants perfectly attainable naturally in up to 3 years. Google up "love island guys" for reference if you wish. Again, seems plausible.
3) Growing beyond these two examples is believed to be very well possible naturally but over a great number of years. Think 7-10+ years timeframe.
4) It's a common belief that a great many (but not all) pro models, celebrities, Hollywood actors, athletes, fitness influencers and porn actors use gear. Again, without naming any names, seems plausible.
5) It's a common belief that literally all competitive bodybuilders use gear since it's basically a requirement. On this one, I couldn't possibly comment.
6) Conclusion from points 1,2 and 3: you can look great and be physically attractive with hard work and without gear.
7) I personally will never use gear due to the health risks. I also will never judge or shame those who do.
8) Many uninformed people believe obvious juicers when they claim natty.
9) To the OP: why ask? Hope not to join the porn industry. Won't judge of course, but the industry is not healthy or mature yet it seems, to put it mildly. So if you can avoid it, I sincerely hope you will. As for dating, a porn star body is not a must anyway.
9) To the mods: if this post is in a violation please correct me. Meant no trouble, tried to follow the rules.
10) I myself used to not buy the "lack of hard work" argument - until I saw with my own eyes some of my fit mates severely underperform in the gym. With proper workout intensity and form they could have achieved so much more in the same number of years they've been working out for already. Same Scott Herman mentions this problem as a common one too btw. Many of his new clients have prior experience (sometimes years) but have never worked out with a serious intensity.

I'm not a Roid Moses and these are not 10 Gear Commandments lol. I genuinely look forward to the input of others. Like everyone else I'm just searching for the best path for myself through gaining knowledge. And this is a rare fitness forum where meaningful discussions and sharing are possible.

thank you. perhaps your first comment i mistook as an insult sorry about that. I think you look great btw im not suggesting you dont know what youre talking about. simply wondering what amount of P stars would use considering the years of needing their body and sex drive to be top of the food chain. Personally I am not against using gear though ive only tried sarms. Take care!

I'm just wondering why Greg Doucette is all up in every bodybuilders business?!

There are few things to consider.
Being "on gear" isn't illegal per se.
It could be an issue for non legal substances (to prevent self harm) or sport.
Most of the male porn stars don't have a body that makes me think they are using peds, or even training a lot.
Some could be, and that's not relevant to me.
