We were paid by the night rather than by the hour. The actual length of time on stage would vary. What you could expect to make would depend on a number of variables. Some places pay more than others. Working private parties pays more than clubs. Doing out-of-town guest appearances pays more than hometown shows. If you hold a title, the pay is more. Tips count for a whole lot. Tippers are not as generous on the first weekend of the month: they just paid their rent and so don&#39;t have as much spare cash. When all conditions are optimum, it&#39;s not unreasonable for a dancer to have made upwards of &#036;500 for a night&#39;s work ... sometimes considerably more than that. Staying away from drugs and too much partying, I was able to put away a generous nest egg.

You&#39;re right; that word means "prostitute." So did the word heteirai for those high-class, worldly ones. The point is, a single word cannot fully capture all the motivation, personal choice, agency, situation, and context of someone who wants to do porn.

As for strippers, men can actually make more money then women in many cases. There are far more clubs devoted to female strippers so they are much more commonplace. Men who dance for women are likely going to be one of the few experiences she&#39;s had seeing strippers, so she&#39;s likely to dig deeper into her wallet for tips than she had planned, and the environment is less "sleazy" as she is likely there with her friends and having a good hoot over it all. Dancing for men has obvious advantages though- men have more money than women, on average, and gay men often don&#39;t have children to support so therefore more expendible cash.

Came back to haunt him? Please...he probably gained as many votes as he lost from the stories about his past.

And certainly, sex can be special with someone even if you&#39;ve had 1000 partners in the past.

Regarding the "men vs women" issue, I believe that women generally make a lot more than men. When I worked in a strip club, the average tip given to the guys was &#036;1-&#036;2. My understanding is that the average tip for a female stripper is &#036;20. Big difference.
