From feedback, I find it to be about 50/50 technique and attitude. I consider attentiveness and perception to be integral to technique. The feedback I have heard most often (other than being told I'm the best which I do not necessarily believe all the time) is word for word (and the precision of this phrasing stuns me) "You suck it like you're in love with me." Those exact words. I have had other feedback about my enthusiasm put in other words too. Also, I would need a lot of convincing to believe you actually want the banana to ever be bruised. It's important to know the limits, and when a bit of roughness is desired, one's hands, lips, palate, and tongue should be able to work in concert with hearing and sight to get right up to the line without going across. That's just what my experience has shown me.
