How Much Do You Rate Your % Straight %gayness?

I was very impressed by the fact some of you do rate your part of straightness and gayness.
What I defenitly appreciate is when a straight guy smean 99% straight and 1% gay.

It means to me a high respect to mankind and what nature made of us.

I was thinking of upping my gay % to 1 after some impure thoughts I had about a classmate of mine recently. Though he's the only male I have ever even really thought about such things with (for very long). I can recognize that a man is attractive, but typically I don't feel attracted to them or have any desire to do anything with them. Women, on the other hand, drive me nuts. In a good way. That's why I say I'm straight. I'm much more sexually attracted to women. I tell gay men who hit on me suggesting that I should experiment with them that I would no sooner hook up with some guy just because I could than I would sleep with some girl who I found unattractive. If someone doesn't turn me on then I don't want to be with them sexually. This guy in my class is the first guy I have ever known to even kind of do that for me, thus the 1%.

But I also do find the percentages interesting, since so often, especially in political dialogue, the labels of "homosexual" and "heterosexual" are discussed as if they were mutually exclusive.

Stephan, thank you for your insightful question. To a lesser extent, I asked the very same question in a post a few days ago, to which there wasn't much of a reply.

I've seen the women on this board listing themselves as primarily straight, as in > 90%. (Are there any lesbians on the board?? I don't recall any).

I've seen single, straight men who clearly understand their orientation and list themselves as >90%. The majority of gay or bi men on the site respect the self-reporting of their straight counterparts.

I've been somewhat confused by some straight men, especially married ones, who list a gay %-age above 10%. How do they arrive at those assessments? Is it based on previous experiences with other men? It's also been interesting to see some men shift their percentage more towards more "gay" orientation with time on the board.

As for the predominantly gay men, I've imagined that their small percentage of straightness is based on past experiences with women or the acknowledgement of an attraction to feminine beauty in general.

I'm curious about why you think you had those thoughts. I put myself at 50/50 even though I don't know exactly where I would fall and it would all depend on the situation. I think about girls in romantic and relationship oriented terms. Sure the sex is awesome (they are built for it), but I seem to find the ones that go crazy when the sex is done and its time to be a couple.

Guys I just think about in a physical sense and I used to write off any attraction I had to guys as a sign that I simply wanted to be "like" them (built, good at another sport, smooth with the ladies, etc). While they aren't exactly built for sex, they sure as heck do know how to enjoy it without the annoying baggage that comes afterwards.

I once done a test.... at first it seemed stupid and ridicolous to me, since how can someone say "if im gay or not" by knowing:
how long I take a shower and what outfits I buy or if I'd like to put new furniture in my house.

I wish more people would remember that between "homosexual" and "heterosexual" is bisexuality. I think that a straight person just recognizing a same sexed person's attractiveness is not a sign of bisexuality, it's a sign of security with ones own identity.

Exactly, for me my 1% is a "token" to say that I'm human, I'm open-minded and I recognize female beauty. I've seen straight porn and might even get talked into an MFM if I was really hot for the guy, lol. I did fool around with women in high school and into college but I was fakin the funk. I could put 100% but I tend to avoid absolutes.

Well I'm bisexual but I prefer men by a wide margin. I originally put 90/10 when I first signed on but that seemed like it was too small. That percentage seemed TO ME more like I find some women attractive but not enough to really want to do anything so I changed to 80/20 which I think is more accurate. But then have my gay side as only 80% seemed small LOL. If not for the mathematical impossibility I think I'd put 90% Gay, 25% Straight.

my 1 pct, though there for awhile, was reinforced by a relatively recent experience. was with a guy and a girl. but i don't dream of being with a woman again. it just happened. i view sexual orientation as the way you *feel*, not how you live. should i up it to 10 pct since i did it? i dunno. its not who i think about. i like guys.

there are married men that have never been with another guy but desire them (more than an isolated passing thought) and hide it totally. are they 100 pct straight? nope. and as others have stated, orientation is not a black and white issue. i like the scale here. straights are obviously a majority, but lots of people fall somewhere in between. its all cool.

We recently discussed this in this thread as well. I'll cross-post what I said:

The percentages are personal to each member, as the responses show.

As my urges change, so too, do my percentages. I was 50/50 at one point and now am at 60/40.

For me that means on average, if I have the choice between fucking a hot woman or fucking a hot guy--I am probably going to choose the guy 6 out of 10 times.

If I based on my sexual experiences, it would be 80% straight/20% gay as I have fucked MANY more women than I have men.

If I based it on a lot of my current responses, it would be about 30% Straight/70% gay.

It all depends on how YOU approach it.

Some people will put 1% as a sign of being open-minded (like Hickboy says--he is straight but not homophobic so he puts his gay% at 1).

You have to think about what it means to YOU and complete it accordingly.

yes sexuality is an xtremely complex matter!For example I'm a bi-guy that prefers women by a considerable margin and yet i know other guys who are nonetheless bi but prefer guys.Other factors to consider in % calculation would be identity, willingness to act on desires,fantasies and level of emotional attachment experienced

I wouldn't have to convert him. I suspected he was probably bisexual and then found his profiles at myspace and facebook where he identifies himself as gay, but I think he is also in a relationship right now.

I'm not sure what it is about him that was making me think about things like that since I have never been attracted to men before. It's not as if it were an overpowering urge or anything, either. I haven't masturbated thinking about it or had any vivid fantasies involving him, but the thought of fooling around crossed my mind and it didn't seem entirely unappealing to me. For me this was a unique experience. I was also discussing the possibility of a MMF threeway with a girl I know who had one before and was interested in trying another and he was the first person who came to mind for me.

I can't put my finger on exactly what it was about him that made him special, he's just a very attractive guy. Good-looking, clean-cut, well-built, articulate, charming, intelligent, well-spoken during class discussions. Maybe it's that I usually think of men as kind of dirty and he seems cleaner than most, or maybe I'm attracted more to his personality than his body, I'm really not sure.

Though I'm still far FAR more attracted to women, and I really don't see myself doing anything with other men in the future, I've always claimed to be an open-minded guy so even if nothing ever comes of this interest I'm actually kind of glad I experienced it. Makes me feel more honest saying that I'm open to just about anything.
