I guess 800 isn't that much but my 103 dollar bill was for 982 kwh. I can't for the life of me see what I pay per KWH because is different for which portion of the 982 it is. It goes something like this

200@2.858 cents per kwh
600@2.598 cents per kwh
182@2.449 cents per kwh
thats the Distribution charge then there is Transmission Charge
982@.73 cents per kwh
then there is a Transition Charge of
200@1.213 cents per kwh
600@1.075 cents per kwh
182@0.993 cents per kwh
LOL, and yet a Generation Charge of
200@5.819 cents per kwh
600@5.114 cents per kwh
182@4.692 cents per kwh
So, I pay anywhere from 8.914 to 10.62 cents per kwh. I guess the more you use the less it cost or the more you use the more it cost, I don't know which. 8.21 cents service fee I guess its the gas bill that has the 8.55 cent service fee.

When I was out on my own for the first time; I always complained about the price of everything. a friend gave me some good food for thought. Be thankful you can afford to pay it.

The last one was $55. Fortunately, the temperatures at the beach area don't usually get high enough that I need the A/C more than 3 or 4 times per year.

My hydro bill for this month is $ 21.05 for a 850 sq. ft. condo. I don't have air conditioning and it doesn't include the cost to heat water. That's covered in my condo maintainence fee.

The cost per kwh is $0.062

Winter months the monthly cost can be up to 4 times that cost.

The house is @3,000 feet, heated mainly by natural gas, @$55. per month. Supplemented by wood, which is free except for the labor.

I have a woodshop, so if I am using power tools a lot, the electric bill can be $300. The rate here is 14c pKWH, some Alaskan villages off the grid it is four times that.

I'm in Phoenix, AZ. It's hot here - $271.12 for 2175 hours. That's for a 2100 sqft 2 story house with a pool - the pool pump runs for 5 hours every night. It was $285 last month (August is the hottest month). I'm on one of those tiered plans so if I'm home during the week I have to be careful and remember to not to use the dryer during the day time. Need to get a gas dryer now that I have a house with Gas. Love the gas stove.

My bill came in yesterdays mail. It is $881.00 for a two month period. My gas bill for the month of August was $218. They say living in northern New Jersey is one of the most expensive places to live- I guess they're right!!

$881 is an obscene amount of money to pay for electricity. How big is your house? And are you sure you haven't got a neighbor (or FIVE!) leeching off your supply?

Mine averages around $80 per month in the summer to $160 in the winter.

That's heat and gas.
I switched to spiral flourescents where I could, and don't leave the lights on.
What jacks it up, is the desktop PC usage. I generally have 3-4 desktops running with big monitors for repairs. I recoop some of it through my fees...but it still elevates it a bit.
This particular house isnt insulated all that well, so I'll be glad when I can build my new one.

This winter...is probably going to be off the chart.

I just got my first one in Florida and I am a little in shock. $150 for one month for a one bedroom apartment, 525 Sq. Ft.

I have central AC and have it turned high to almost 80. I don't like it too cold in my apartment. I think I will have to turn it off and go out for a ride to save money.

Mine has jumped steadily too ! last month just over $ 140 and this month it's now over $ 160 for a 1 BR around 740 sq ft. I'm on the 1st floor and middle apartment, so the 2 floors above keep me insulated as do the one's to either side. Anyway, I also keep it ice cold @ 72* F. As fall/winter comes around, I've just now started keeping it around 75-76* F after getting this last bill. I have a feeling people are going to complain and they'll audit/investigate it and we'll get a refund/rebate in the near future. I know FPL just raised the rates though, didn't think a 1 BR/1 BA would get to $ 160+, but then again, if someone told me that a 12.5 gallon econobox car would cost $ 50 to fill up, I'd have been as skeptical.

Customers should expect FPL rate hike on August bill : Treasure Coast : TCPalm

Here's 2008 for me:

Jan $ 99.58
Feb $ 109.67
Mar $ 114.89
Apr $ 120.39
May $ 142.13
Jun $ 138.84
Jul $ 144.18
Aug $ 161.77

Part of this is because I started using my server at home more often. Was a dual processor, single core until the upgrade to dual processors, dual core. That should drop some as I've come to set the server to run with PowerNow and "server balanced processors & performance" power scheme. I had it on "Always On" power scheme.

I think I'll go back to using the single cpu, single core desktop or even notebooks that I have.

I just received my electricity bill in the mail and thought it was a little high. It crossed my mind that since I live Tennessee and get my power from TVA, I am probably getting a break. What are you paying and where do you live?

My usage: 708 kWh
Basic service charge: $31.53
Hydro-credit: -$1.71
Energy charge kWh: $56.85
FCA charge: $1.00 (whatever the hell that is)
Total: $87.67

I am just curious about what other people are paying for a basic service in our lives.

Just paid it today...
I have a small, 1 BR apartment, living room with EL dining area, small kitchen and bathroom, located in NYC (Manhattan)
where rent includes water, gas stove, a/c, and heat.

Therefore, my electric bill is only for items that need electricity such as lighting, tv, various appliances and refrigerator.

I have a Level Monthly Billing, based on the total 2012 charges.
My bill for November 2013 was $142.89....including fees, taxes, and other charges.
This was lower than last year at this time....

NY 1.5 bedrooms about $140 ish a month.(about $250-$300 in summer) Honolulu 3 bedrooms (rarely use AC )but run ceiling fans in every room constantly and a swimming pool and studio... used to run about $350-$450 ish a month. Installed solar panels and it cut my bill almost in half. (I have a friend down the street and they run their air conditioning constantly and pay about $800 a month)

8 years on Island and zero/zilch/nil
due to Solar everything, LP Gas the other
NOW
i balk at the 45$ per month basic monthly rip off service fee, and maybe 30$ on top, equals 75-80$ pm

thats with LP Gas here for heating hot water and 30% of the cooking
and have since found its a waste of time to go pure Solar, as the C...ts will still charge the service fee, because 'they have to service the line', going past my abode, and doing nothing ... its not there problem if i dont take the Power from there line ..

what REALLY Fs me off is the xtra surcharge they make, each time they need to build or explore other avenues for Power, take the profits in the meantime and still manipulate the user ..

Does your utility company credit you for electricity that your solar plant generates yet do not use?

I have family with panels on their roofs and when they are away at work during the day, their meters run backwards because they are selling the electricity they cannot use back to their power company.

In way of paying for electricity, my power company charges me for:
1. Consuming it.
2. Delivering it.

So even though I may pay 8c per kWh, I will also pay a 4c per kWh delivery fee, making my cost actually 12c per kWh.

No matter how you slice it, you just gotta turn shit off when its not being used.

Have read about this but no
Would need an excessively huge bank of excess Solar Power, i would imagine, before i could feed it back into the grid, even then i doubt very much they would allow it (NZ anyway), perhaps citing its not legislated for or permissible etc ..

I dont mind paying a fair price monthly for service charges, but like Telecom and other Corps they charge what they like??? WW i am sure?
Govt raves they will look into it, but of course never do??
