LPSG is like Facebook for dicks.

I spend too much time, I scroll through most evenings while watching the news.

Like now, News, LPSG, and jerking.
Facebook is more insidious though. There's a special lexicon only found on FB - it's all “hey, lovely lady”, “stay strong hun” - where did that come from? Sentences start with a so (“so that escalated quickly”, “so we're arriving at the party”), or it's “the moment when...” or “what happened next shocked everyone”. Experience is parcelled up and captioned as a bite-size morsel for public consumption. It's a language of socialised envy. It infects how we frame real life, I've noticed myself thinking in that strange grammar - verbless, always in the present and presenting - “drinks on the terrace, good wine, good friends”. Yuk.
