How short should men's shorts be?

Tend to wear denim cut-offs with 6inch inseam. Allows me to free-ball without too many obvious dick slips... Great to see denim shorts making their mark again. Nothing quite like denim cut offs with white T and strappy brown gladiator or hippie sandals!
I agree that 6 - 7 " shorts are great. Short enough without much risk of accidental exposure.
No shirt is better where it is allowed.

I was just at the end of that. I thought the pockets sticking out looked weird, but having the shorts long enough to prevent that would have looked far more weird back then.

"I sure miss those days of men not being afraid to show their legs and body."

Me too.... But we should count our blessings; at least tight pants have come back...

Back in the day footballers in the UK wore nice cotton shorts with a 2 inseam which made the game much more attractive to watch as the guys were really guys with packages that bounced and swung...
today its all trussed up and tight and they look like a bunch of cockles eunuchs..

I have underpants with a longer inseam than the shorts in the OP photo.

I came of age in the late 1970s/early 1980s when men's shorts were shorter than women's miniskirts. Never again. About a 7 inch inseam seems right. Still above the knee but no peekaboo junk slippage.

I’m about to post a comment in Accidental Nudity, which maybe a more appropriate thread for all the dialogue.

But in response to how short is too short? I’m not a board short type of guy myself. And I prefer the guy to wear shorts like I do.

That said, the “too short” flack comes from my Marine Brethren AND…..The MARINE SILKIES. (Runners shorts)

Marines Fight PTSD By Stripping Down To Silkies And Showing Us Their "Man Love"

just some random hot marines in silkies

I’m around “all branches of service” and the Marines get grief about how short they are. You'll hear them taunt each other with Police that nütsack!

Gotta say they’re comfortable as hell. Most of the compliments I get about the ass come from wearing shorts similar to the MARINE SILKIES. But for the guys I see wearing the MARINE SILKIES/

You know, running shorts..

And let’s go there.. In a big dick appreciation forum, some of my brothers in arms, ARE JUST WRONG for stuffing all that meat in those shorts. In particular, the running shorts. That’s foul man!!

Picture it’s early in the morning and you have somebody like @BigNavy or @Markym01 doing PT in front of you with that morning wood still partially at attention, Or just fucking jiggling when you gave to hold their legs for sit-ups and you’re trying to keep YOUR shit down.

You can picture either saying, "Fuck it, let’s go behind the bleachers and take care of this. Neither of us is getting any PT done with all this wood taking place here."

I was born in the sixties and came of age in 70s when everyone wore short shorts. Starting in the 80s mens' shorts got longer and longer and the short style hasn't returned.

Sigh. I miss thigh.

I'm a little later on. But this is what I'm talking about.

Board shorts serve their purpose, but the shorts where you can see a man be a man, I love that!!!

Now this is what I think of when I think of men's shorts. Anything longer and they are no longer shorts, they are just pants of different lengths.

Yep, this is my speed,

It all depends on:
1. The man. (Tall, short, in-shape, out-of-shape, average)
2. The place and the occasion.

Under no circumstances should a man's shorts land below the knee.

There is no one answer.

And I agree with you both. I understand some guys are afraid of this happening,.

But still what's the point of shorts on if they're just above or passed your knees.

That's why I prefer shorts with a 6'' to 7" inseam.
Well above the knee but still long enough to avoid accidental exposure.

So, does the inseam really mean anything? 7-9" on someone who is 6'3" isn't going to fit the same as someone who is 5'3'. Whether you are tall, short, average, whatever, don't you buy clothes that are proportioned/made to fit your size? Just like someone who has a 30" waist isn't going to wear something made for someone who has a 36" waiste and vice versa. If so, then the shorts I quoted as an example above would still be true. They are cut/sized to fit the size they were made for. The inseam wouldn't matter. Like I said, anything that hangs lower on the leg than in the example are just pants in different lengths. jmho

Oh, and short shorts don't apply, nor do capri-length pants. They are different beasts. We are talking about good old-fashioned traditional shorts here, not ones taken to the extreme. Extreme works both ways - you have either gone way too short or way too long.
