How short should men's shorts be?

...these might be safer for most situations.They might be too short in some circumstances, but for the most part the length seems to be about right. I'm wearing more revealing pants to work!
In my opinion, a little bit shorter would be better (with regards to the shorts, obviously).

I am old enough to remember when cutoff that were short enough for the bottom of the front pockets to stick out were quite common!
Denim cutoff’s are the most comfortable shorts to wear... I'm SO over board-shorts!
Probably should have added that it was standard practice to wear briefs under them so accidental exposure was less of an issue.

I have yet to find the right length of shorts for myself (that are affordable). I workout everyday and shorts either come to the knee or there are running shorts. I would like something maybe 3 inches above the knee but haven't found what I'm looking for yet.
Contrary to my post, he is obviously not wearing briefs under his very short cutoffs.
