I get annoyed by the requests honestly. People want to train with me, but I prefer to be alone.

Maybe just be nice to people and they will ask you. I get asked a lot of questions and that usually leads to people asking to train with me.

Mate, I prefer to workout on my own schedule and don’t want to slow down or speed up my routine with others. I always striking up conversations in the gym including flirting, but then need to focus completely on my workout. Regarding post workout experiences, I also have not had much luck. Mostly men that were pretty creepy or involve drugs or wanting to have sex.

good luck to you mate!

Always offer to spot people. Praise good lifts. Be consistent in your attendance. You will find a friend to train with.
Great advice. Also praise other guys' progress and their achievements when deserved. The challenge will be the post workout interest. I end up being buddies with a lot of straight lifters who appreciate someone who speaks up and is a good gym mate. They know I'm gay, and are completely fine with that. But those relationships would falter quickly if I intimidated I would enjoy something more. There are a few gay guys among my buddies too, but (I think) they also don't want to mess up a good friendship with sex (I frankly agree with because you'd never want a gym buddy to ever possibly be uncomfortable with you).
