How to know if top, bottom or verse ...

when out on the prowl and you see a guy you like, how is it established the type of homosexual you are/he is (meaning top, bottom or verse - excuse me if i didn't phrase it correctly).

for eg. if you're a top and you never bottom then you will want to find a dude that only bottoms but you clearly can't necessarily tell by looking at them. so is it that it is clearly stated from the outset, or do you get to talking a bit first and feel each other out before it's mentioned or are there subtle non-verbal cues that are typically used to show which 'type' you are?

just curious as i have considered testing out some gay bars in the area but don't want to get to waste time talking to fellow tops (not in that setting i mean) so would liek to know how to establish myself as a top and likewise how to ascertain whether a guy is a top, bottom or verse

I'm a top, but I don't care about who I go for. If I think a guy's sexy I go for him. Anyway it's hardly like two tops can't have fun, and anal isn't on my mind if it's a random encounter anyway.

I think the simplest answer is within talking to someone. You get to know them. You find out how compatible you are on many things. Sex roles are among them. Like the above comments. . . I am a bottom, myself and I do have fun when I hook up with another bottom-man. In summary. . I think you just take time to get to know someone, and ask the right questions. I like think, and say that I am (sex forward), I'll be pretty forward with where I am at and what roles I like so a dude can make a choice about getting with me, or not. cheers.
