What is the standard way to measure an erect penis?
i think a ruler works ok :biggrin1:

seriously....this is not rocket science- measure from the tip to the base, on the top side of your penis....if u have a little fat on the pubic bone, i suppose its ok to press a little bit...but basically i think it should be measured in terms of what the hard cock was designed to do- PENETRATE. so ask yourself- how much "length" actually "goes in" when u fuck(or get sucked).

Yeah their all right, but if you want a guide with pics (of course for assistance only:rolleyes:) you could goggle the THE DEFINITIVE PENIS SIZE SURVEY they give you instructions on how to measure each mode of penis--erect, flaccid, circumference, etc.

Yes, the medical/contest way is on the TOP side. The underside, of course, is reserved for porn stars and people with defective rulers. Put the ZERO end of the ruler against your pubic hair and push in slightly, snuggly, then measure to the tip.

Remember, if you have a US bill handy, it's 6" long. In non-metric countries, standard typing paper is 8.5 x 11 inches. If you roll up a sheet from the bottom, you make a tube that is 8.5 across. I dare most guys who say they have 8.5 to slip that over their cock and then check any. Eleven inches would be the paper rolled for the size.

If you roll up a piece of typing paper from the size so that it's an 11-inch-long roll and then make the roll the distance around so that you can just put a dollar bill around it, that's 11 x 6 inches.

Now you understand why most guys have 2.5 inches less than they think they do.

The sad thing is that everyone had used the proper way from Day One, anyone with a thick 7 would be large, since most guys have 5.5 or less .. many much less. Dennis

But you see, there is a large difference between measuring it from the top, or measuring it from just the left or right. The diagram that I posted says to measure it from the left/right. It's probably easier because you can stretch out any curve that may add to the measurement,

haha... alot of truth in what u say. i am a legit 7 x 5.5, but that hardly qualifies as big, in part because of all the exaggerated and or mis-measured 8" cocks.

Exactly: that is why the diagram is wrong. The human crotch is not flat from side to side like whatever it is that the penis in the diagram is growing out of: if you put the ruler alongside your penis rather than along the top, you add significantly to the measure. That, of course, prompts some guys to measure that way so that they can claim additional length and believe that they are being truthful. But the most commonly accepted measure is along the top.

No, 6-3/16 inches, as I measure it.

Place the ruler on top of your penis. Do NOT press into the pubic bone, as that's not accurate visually. If your dick bends in any direction, straighten it out without stretching it. Some will argue that doing that is wrong. It's not, as that is valid length in your penis. It's going into something (which will likely be tight enough to straighten it some), so every insertable bit counts.

Pubic bone measurements are known as BPEL (Bone pressed erect length). This is for PEers with a growth goal, not a valid measurement. If you lose enough weight to lose your fat pad, then it becomes valid. You just want the simple EL.

For instance, my BPEL is a little under 8.5 inches. I don't make the claim of being 8.5 inches because that's not what I visually am, nor am I going to be able to press into someone all the way to the bone without some discomfort (you'll find getting the BPEL is a bit uncomfortable).

But you see, all of these studies use bone pressed measurements, so it would be fair for one to do so as well. In any case, a little pressing is legitimate, because it would take into account the fact that a penis is a little longer a few mm to the left or right.

Also, when you say measure from the top, you mean to where the ruler covers the penis from above? Would it be accurate to measure it to where the ruler doesn't cover the penis, ie a cm to the left or right?

 This makes no sense to me at all. Measure the penis to where the ruler does not cover it? If the ruler doesn't cover it, how can you measure it to that point? And why would you want to? That's like asking whether you should measure your height according to how high the top of your head is against the wall or measure to some other point not covered by your body. If I measure to a point two inches past the end of my dick, I have a 9.5-inch penis: so fucking what?

Okay, so why would this be wrong? It would have to be adjusted a little, though.

Why? I just told you why a few posts ago:
Exactly: that is why the diagram is wrong. I don't understand you, Whiteboi: you post a question; you get a rationally argued answer that exposes a misconception on your part; without responding to the criticism you go and restate your misconception as if nothing at all had happened. But thank you for making clear to me that in replying to you I have been wasting my time.

As long as you are measuring the actual penis, it should be right, no? Doing what was done in that picture, one can easily measure the penis from the top all the way to where it reaches the skin. I know what you mean when people incorrectly measure from the bottom or the far right/left. But this is a measurement on the penis.

hi! i'm french, i red the whole topic, but i'm not completely sure if i'm right.
so, you have to press to the bone or not? by bone you mean the part of the penis that is "inside the body" but that you can reveal by pressing out with your hand, right?
sorry if it sounds repeating

You can press only a little to compensate for the fact that the side of your penis is longer. But all the way to the bone would be cheating.
