...potentially. Not that it matters, but if you just hold your mouse over someone's pic for a second or 2, the filename pops up. Generally, if the filename is a bunch of random letters, something along the lines of 21437_903pkfi9.g3, rather than IMG387.jpg, boobies.wmv, or similar, it's a pretty safe bet that the picture was copied from the web and pasted onto the person's computer, and then onto here. Maybe this will help out some of the retards around here...probly not though

What if they steal the pic of the net and then rename it themselves? I think the best way to catch an imposter is to play along with them until u get their yahoo or msn and ask for more pics.. by this stage they either come up with a million excuses why they've only got 3.. and then u can start to pick holes in their fake indentity either by their randomly named email address or their inability to maintain a decent conversation after u've put them on the spot.. common signs include words no 'female' would think of using and erratic and rash behaivoir..thus not speaking to u again.. :nutkick:

you can always use tineye if the pic's naming structure looks suspicious.
i am always wary of the ones that claim 10 inches and above. that's just near mathematically impossible.

You browse for a picture from your hard drive or give it a URL and it goes out and searchs the web for other instances of the same pic. It doesn't have a the biggest database, but it's fun and I've found a couple of fakers using it.

there was a guy here who posted a few times then was banned, he was a bit of a troll. anyway before he was banned he contacted me through yahoo IM, he was a wee bit wonky so i blocked him. then about 2 weeks later he came back as a girl (on yahoo), and he gave the same info (locale, student, same major, same age...was obvious). when he sent me pictures, i decided to plug them into tineye (he didnt bother re-naming them) -- i found them on 8 other sites. it's a good resource, pretty much, though as vince said the database isn't as large as it could be.
