To provide for incentives to encourage health insurance coverage, and for other purposes.

If all options and ideas are welcome at the table...this is an alternative Healthcare Reform bill currently in the House.

Just skimming 3400, and, so far, one section I like is the proposal for loan forgiveness (and I like the cap, but 50k seems a bit low. (Sec. 1111), which offers a much better explanation of the program than 3200’s mention of “loan repayment” assistance (Sec. 2241).

Either way, I think both are reform minded, although, 3200 could be clearer and 3400 could go a bit deeper into the minutiae of health care that 3200 is mired in. I would like to see the incentive programs expanded to include a broader range of health care professions. Since we import foreign nurses, offering similar benefits as PCPs to nursing students & professionals seems like an easy decision (not sure if Sec. 2221 of 3200 covers this or not).

Is there ANY counterpoint you don't despise? Other than debate over the shoe color of Simon Cowell, or RuPaul's eye shadow?

H.R. 3400 is just a long winded way to say "lower taxes". And we all know what happened the last time our government decided to give a tax rebate to everyone. It failed to do anything substantial. The $300 credit of 2007/08 didn't do anything. What makes them think a $2K-$5K rebate will do anything long term to fix the financial woes of the Average American?

Oooh... a extra zero! They'll jump for joy when they see this!

Nice try, but we're not falling for that twice.

The section on tax reimbursements wouldn't even put a slight dent in what it would cost me to pay for health insurance. So far, (having read about 1/2 of it) I'm not impressed. It's quite niggardly and as yet I don't see where it addresses the problems of malpractice insurance and other cost-controlling measures.

Who cares what it's called... it's not going to take care of the problem.

'The bill also makes money spent on purchasing an individual health care plan deductible from your federal income taxes. The bill provides an additional refundable federal tax credit for low income families of $2000 for an individual, $4000 for a couple, and $5000 for a family up to 2 times the poverty level. The credit is phase out between 2 and 3 times the poverty level."

This will do absolutely nothing to help most who can't afford health insurance. The Republicans have been trumpeting this proposal for years

The proposal calls for Health Insurance to be open across state lines and access to new pooling mechanisms for small businesses and individuals.

Instead of losing your cobra (or not being able to afford in the first place) and paying $700-$800 a month for an individual...it would put that individual back in a "group plan" that is similar to what they would pay with an employer plan.

    One more time for you:

The proposal calls for Health Insurance to be open across state lines and access to new pooling mechanisms for small businesses and individuals.

This won't be the same options you now have.

And once again... WHO THE FUCK CARES?
An "alternate plan" to Obama's has been posted. Good for you. But it doesn't solve the overall problem of health care and its costs, and many people will have no choice but to be uninsured. Never mind how it inadvertently demonizes single people, while giving families much more.

Nope, it's MISrepresentations and lies which are takin their tolls. Death Panels? Socialism>? Rationing?......NONE of that is in there but is being widely trumpeted my many Republicans in Congress and EVERY conservative pundit. The "so called" Republican health care bill had nothing to do with it.
