Name me one woman philosopher?

Name me one woman who lead the field of science and learning?

I have said this myself twenty years ago when under attack for having a cock.

Buried beneath the rubble of humanity we find a gem to shame all diamonds.

And you phuquers have nothing to say. Hey ho.

Good topic. There maybe few and far between, but here's a few...

Contemporaries:
Jane Goodall, US Anthropologist
Shirley Anne Jackson, US Physicist
Baroness O'Neill of Bengarve, UK Philosopher (Kantian) and Member HOL
Rosalind Hursthouse, Aussie Aristotelian Philosopher

Deceased:
Ayn Rand - Russian-US Philosopher Theory of Objectivism
Marie Curie - French Physicist-Chemist Theory of Radioactivity
Grace Murray Hopper - US Created first computer code compiler
Karen Horney - German Psychologist

Be curious to see the film on Hypatia, if only for the recreation of that time period. The arc of the plot looks, well, as you say, naff.

Hypatia was a fascinating woman. The Racheal Weiz movie was enjoyable.

I'll have to get on to Amazon to get a copy then. Did you know much about the period before you watched the movie? I always find movies with a "blockbuster" feel rather difficult when they cover history that I know reasobaly well.
