If that's where the OP was going with this, then I agree. Trying to hard just seems like trying to hard. So guys who really work at being masculine are not, by definition, truly masculine.

You didn't read my post very well, did you? I'm anything but ignorant about human sexuality.

Sorry, but a lot of themes in heterosexual porn have very gay undertones. Many men enjoy those themes/scenarios/fetishes. And I'm not going to go into all of them as they I think most are quite obvious.

A straight man can be very attracted to women and only date women but have some attraction to men without every wanting to act on those feelings (let alone date one). That still makes him very heterosexual in preference. Do keep in mind that sexual preference and sexual orientation are two very different things.

Human sexuality is much more complicated than gay, straight or bisexual labels.
