There is nothing wrong with admiring someone’s hard work and dedication to crafting a beautiful form. Coming back into a gym environment after almost 20 years away has been eye opening and inspiring. I’ve been a visitor at the Korean Spas in New Jersey for a few years now, bringing younger co-workers on a #nakedfieldtrip from time to time.
Enjoying the freedom of being naked and confident in the company of other men is foreign to Americans, due to societal conditioning and our relentless media pressure of having to achieve a perfect body.
Go to Island Spa in Edison NJ and spend the day in the bath area. Therapeutic with the pools and the steam and dry saunas, it is also liberating to just spend time naked for hours at a time. It’s not sexual by any means, for that there are plenty of bathhouses geared towards sex. Instead, enjoy a place where men are naked because it is the rule of the culture you are visiting, not unlike the spas in Europe.
I’m bisexual, always have been, but the spas and locker rooms I frequent now are true oases of men being comfortable with who they are and have worked hard to be.There are those who are cruisy and we all can recognize them for their blatant stares of desire, but if we ignore them, they find their way out. I love the equalization of nudity, there are no trappings of society, no brand names, no consumerist castes based on the clothes you wear, just you...naked and there for the same reason, to take the heat as therapy and ease the tensions of exercise or life. I’ve been at Island or King Spa in the Palisades and only gotten into the SpaJamas to have a meal or charge my phone or sleep, and have spent 90% of my time naked in the bath area, blissfully content to be able to be naked and have nobody complain that I wasn’t covered in the sauna or didn’t get dressed fast enough at my locker. Enjoying the heat and the tubs and the steam and fully loosening my muscles, which after a couple weeks of working out I am more aware of than I was previously.
We are all men in a lockerroom, we should all be comfortable and make every effort to extend that comfort to others.
