Actually, one that works well.
I want to graduate to a cordless drill.
Mostly I do minor home improvement, small crafts, and Miscellaneous silly stuff. And I want to do it away from the wall and without The Orange Tail.

are you a cordless driller? Whatcha got? What would you rather have?

I’m in the Rocky Mountain west. Not adverse to online ordering.
Price point, I’d like to stay under $100, and decent battery life matters.
So boys and girls, show me your tools!

Impact drill.....Have used both Metabo and Milwaukee...I have a preference for the made in Germany though.......The latter is tough, but more expensive.

If it's for now and then use. Ryobi is a good all rounder for the handygal or guy and price is not over the top.

Impact drills have less tendency to strip screw heads. Because most screws these days that are available in hardwares are cheap crap. Soft.

Fast forward to the important stuff.

My tools have a bit of wear to them...not for public viewing :)

I don't know about the specs on the brands out there now, but you want to have an 18 volt battery at least. Lower voltages run down much faster on the job. Check out reviews from tradesmen and buy the best one you can get for your price point. Back in my hardware days I sold both Makita and Ryobi both worked well I used and liked Makita better however that was in the early days of cordless tools and they had 9 and 12 volt batteries so they ran down fast on big projects. Best of luck finding your big tool that fits your needs.

Any good “starter” models in DeWalt, @Mule ?

For everyday household stuff, the DeWalt DCD771C2 is a solid 20V cordless drill and can be found for about $100. There are better DeWalt cordless drills out there but they are up around $200-$250 and are aimed more at professionals.

Almost a whole week since posting that loaded title and not one guy has posted a dick pic within the thread. This place seems to be maturing .

You can always go back to the original cordless with variable speed and reverse options.:)..depend how fast you wish to crank it and in what direction...I have one like this out the back in among dads old hand tools, he was a carpenter. The model has a detachable crank handle which you can place on the other side for faster drilling with less cranking.
