Don't you get depressed when you read stuff like this - yet again...?

The poor woman, not to mention her family!

Why do religionists insist everyone else abide by their stupid rules? It really pisses me off.

This is horribly sad. Things like this give me violent thoughts.

That's horrible. I think government needs to step back and give women the right to control what goes on with their bodies. While I certainly don't believe in abortion personally, it is definitely the correct decision in some cases. I don't believe anyone should have the right to take that decision away from another human being. I can't imagine how hard making such a decision must be, even without the blubbering activists picketing.

Maybe there's some way they could sue the doctor for negligence?
The article says abortion is legal if carrying the baby is putting the woman's life at risk. Given she complained of severe pain and other stuff the dotors should've given her an abortion.

waiiiiiiiiit, this happened in Ireland? Why not blame the religious right for the deplorable way that women are treated in Muslim countries? Kill the ethnocentrism folks.

I think people expect that kind of thing in Muslim countries. Ireland is considered part of the western world, so it's a little surprising.

I assume she had more than just a little going on upstairs, seeing as how she was a dentist. Why didn't she go to another country?

Yeah it seems like she could have just traveled north to Northern Ireland and maybe got an abortion on the NHS?

Would that've worked?

I think by the time someone realises that they are miscarrying, it's probably too late for that.

And not only did the medievalists make it illegal to have an abortion in Ireland, they also made it illeagal to travel abroad to get one.

So, once she presented at a hospital in Ireland in her condition, I believe she would have been prevented from leaving to seek treatment elsewhere.
