I'm the same way .. I've my favorite actors and actresses and I tend to stick to them. I generally tend to think the exact opposite of what critics think, and usually depend upon close friends as my best critics to reference.

Mon ami, I fear my French is even sketchier than my Spanish, but I agree that Liasons is one beautiful film, and audacious as well&#33; I think what I liked about it was that the premise is so vulgar, you just don&#39;t think of people in those beautiful couture being total assholes, it was amazing. Also, I need dead people in a movie to make it worth watching, so it did not disappoint.

Also, the director&#39;s cut of Leon the Professional was an emotional masterpiece, IMHO. Very brave of Luc Besson to take that relational challenge between girl and man and elevate it to such heights. I can&#39;t remember crying harder at a movie than that one.

Dreams (Your subconscious mind can be pretty rough on you. By Akira Kurasawa.)


Comedy: 8 1/2 by Fellini... you laugh &#39;til you cry...

Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (You&#39;ll laugh out loud reading the subtitles of this Spanish film, staring it&#39;s number one comic actor: a 25-year-old Antonio Banderas who was totally unknown in U.S. when this was made.)

That should be enough to get you started. I&#39;ve barely scratched the surface.
