X Factor was just on. I'm better than the really shit ones but not as good as the okay ones...I want to just be 'passable'.

Any tips? Anyone else want to come here and vent or share tips/frustrations. My friend sent me a vocal coach thing...but I lost it when my comp died :(

It mainly talked about exercises (it was an audio CD)

Another tip my friend from LA told me is to put a finger in my ear (???).

Come, gather round. Anyone know which songs are easy to sing?

I have a decent voice on a good day. On a bad day, it's unpredictable. The person whose advice you need to solicit is AlteredEgo. She has a sublime singing voice and has taken lessons.

Thanks. I guess you really do need lessons then. I think I'll just try practicing on my own though. You think if I actually stuck at it (maybe even the same song?) for a few hours I'd improve a bit?

I wouldn't really want to look foolish, going for singing lessons
Plus this is more of a hobby; trying to sing.

Thanks though, I'll ask around about lessons.

    SLB,

having heard your voice I have found that it is often not listening to the pitch carefully enough that helps one to go off pitch. The suggestion of holding your ear while singing is a good one. It helps you to hear more clearly what you sound like.
