I finally made that call....

Today is a great day!
After much encouragment from my partner and cousin; I finally made that call to my folks and told them I am gay.
My mom said she kind of knew; but seeing as I was married for over 25 years; she wasn't sure.
She totally is behind me 100% and told me that she just wants me to be happy.
I don't really care if anyone answers this; but I am just so fucking happy; that I can't help but shout it out.
Thanks for this forum and thanks to so many of my friends on LPSG who have been so supportive and loving.

I think that's f-in' fantastic! I know it must have taken some guts but the relief and happiness in your voice is palpable. Congratulations. You can't imagine how much easier and fuller your life and relationship with them will be now.

Your reaction is similar to not one, but all of my straight friends and relatives. They are just so happy to see me finally being myself.
That's all anyone wants, the freedom to be themselves.
Let's just hope this country remembers that, the Freedom to be.

Looking back, I imagined all the worst scenarios and in the end, it was as if I told her about the weather. LOL
She suprised me by her honesty and her sincere wish that I just be happy.
