Congrats to you....and to me too....after 2 years, I finally landed a position...two years...don't know how I have survived..only by the skin of my teeth...and so grateful for those who have been helping me to slide by...and to those who have kept me occupied and amused in my desperation....so congrats to you , and hope you and the family take some time to enjoy for a change

Most of you do not know me or know anything about me but, I have been out of work for the past few months. It has been hard especially since I have a family to support. Well today I finally received a job offer and I start on Monday. I'll be an insurance broker like I was before but making way more money. Just thought I'd share the good news with the people I seem to spend quite a bit of time with:biggrin1:

Congratulations, man!

I don't know you too well, but well enough that I can make this filthy little offer: do you need an assistant? I would be more than happy to work 'underneath' you. :biggrin1:

Good for you! You're one of the lucky few that when finding a new job in this economy that ends up making more than they were before.

This last time I was laid off I took a job in the same field but making $17,000 less than I was before, but hey I still have a job.

Good luck, I hope everything works out great for you.

Congrats!

I was in the same position -- essentially out of work for almost two years (one year of which was working for my venture capital funded company that cut my salary by 80% with continual promises of recouping the loss -- the company eventually folded). I did have some sporadic contract work but nothing like full time. In the last year I went on a lot of interviews, but someone else was always the better candidate.

Then, early this month, I got two job offers simultaneously. Two weeks ago I started with the one that really clicked with the direction I wanted my career to head. The good thing is that it also puts me back on the right track regarding pay -- the last two jobs I had were progressively less and less salary than my best-paying job. I'm now about on par with where I would have been with that old job plus annual raises. And, in addition, I'm running my own technical consulting business and have two clients that I'm doing work for which is bringing in some much appreciated extra spending money.

I am hearing of more and more people landing positions -- a lot of my former colleagues are getting themselves in good positions. It sounds like the economy is really starting to turn around.

Congratulations! I've been unemployed since the end of last year so I know what you've been through. That is awesome news, very happy for you!
