Congrats!
I was in the same position -- essentially out of work for almost two years (one year of which was working for my venture capital funded company that cut my salary by 80% with continual promises of recouping the loss -- the company eventually folded). I did have some sporadic contract work but nothing like full time. In the last year I went on a lot of interviews, but someone else was always the better candidate.
Then, early this month, I got two job offers simultaneously. Two weeks ago I started with the one that really clicked with the direction I wanted my career to head. The good thing is that it also puts me back on the right track regarding pay -- the last two jobs I had were progressively less and less salary than my best-paying job. I'm now about on par with where I would have been with that old job plus annual raises. And, in addition, I'm running my own technical consulting business and have two clients that I'm doing work for which is bringing in some much appreciated extra spending money.
I am hearing of more and more people landing positions -- a lot of my former colleagues are getting themselves in good positions. It sounds like the economy is really starting to turn around.
