Couldn't agree more, though I don't think you see the hard irony in your post.
Bringing this thread back to its point, this isn't a thread to discuss Routine Infant Circumcision.
This is the bottom line. I don't know of one credible guy who chose it for himself who doesn't think it's a big improvement.
Did your roomate confide in you or did you just notice a difference? LOL.
I haven't told my housemates, but we're not close.
The 2 biggest stupidities that have been posted on this thread:
1. Foreskin retraction causes later phimosis. Only maybe if you ripped the skin but believe me the kid would be screaming worse than being circumcised and you'd have to use alot of force. Certainly not from trying to gradually retract it for cleaning.
2. You lose sensitivity the longer you are circumcised. Several others have pointed how dumb that is.

Did I mention that I had my final check up with the doctor who circumcised me? It was supposed to be at 4 weeks but got delayed. He admired his work for a second, told me I should be feeling my balls for testicular cancer and then we talked for a minute, just about literally. He asked if I had "used it" yet. And I said "Yes.". He asked if everything was working and I said "Great". He told me he's got a bunch of young guys circs booked for the summer.
yes he is telling you the truth about younger guys i would say, as my friends in the medical field tell me that they are seeing quite a bit of an increase in circumsions. as well as some older guys getting cut as well.
I had to tell my room mates when I got mine in college. Hear my luck, the week I got circumcised there was a BIG party. I had only been cut for 4 days, heck I couldnt even stand up to pee. I put on the tightest briefs I had through a tshirt and some jeans and I was off to the party. This hot chick ends up tipsy and basically through herself on me.
We make out and when she told kinda gave me the a ok that sex was gonna happen I had to back out. LOL. So I go home look down at my dick and I think I may have shed a tear cause she was smokin hot. The next day when she was sober again she tells my roomies that I must not like girls cause I wouldnt sleep with her. They bust into my room asking WTF. So then I broke down and told them. Their jaws dropped, then they made a whole big thing out of it, went out and got tequila and they made fun of me having to get snipped (all of them saying they were still intact).
They asked me a few questions on the procedure and the feel and then that was the end of it.

As for the insurance, it is usually you just paying the co pay an your insurance pick up the rest, at least thats the way it has worked for most of my friends. an it has been very recently that they have had this done for some of them. others have had it done for a very long time. but as for the out of pocket expense if you have no health insurence, it isn't much different between Dr. to Dr. as how much it will cost you to be circumcised. despite what you mite read on this site sometimes about the Md's getting rich off circumcision. [ totally not true] i have ask some of my very close friends in the medical field on this and they tell me it is any where between 1500 & 2000 max. depending on style an such. but as for the style it is usually like the circumcision center in Atlanta GA. they start out at 1500. an up as high as 2000 so you see it is the same. the reason for the 2000 fig. is because if you want a sleeve resection. [ which is what is called when you get circumcised again if you dint like the way you look the first time your done ] but this is because of the use of hospital equipment an such. the Dr. him/her self only gets around 360 to 400, for doing the actual circumcision. also there are grants you can get to help pay for circumcision as well. one is called the[ Wilburn grant] you pay 360 to the Dr. or what ever you an he agrees upon for his fee is[ but its not much more than this ] then the grant pays for the rest of the total thing hospital etc. any thing that is done connected to you being circumcised is paid for. hope this was of some help to you. an if you or some one else is leaning toward getting it done. congratulations. an if just curious about it, well hope i was of some help here to you.
If you can prove it is for a medical reason then the insurance will cover it. If not then it could land you a pretty penny depending on where you go. I paid 500 bucks for mine but I just went to a urologist that is a family friend.
I have seen it cost around 2000-2500 for the most part and if you go to a plastic surgeon it can run you up to 8000.
Shop around, let them show you pics of their work.

By "credible guy" I meant guys that I know actually exist, rather than friends you (and others) seem to make up to support whatever "point" you are making.
Call it what you want but scarring at the preputial sphincter is a top reason for adult circumcision. Doctors - including Daniel Sidler whose lecture I attended in September - feel it rules out stretching the preputial sphincter to relieve phimosis.
Uhm, did you notice it was cut-in-adulthood guys saying that sensitivity decreases? Guy1 says: I was very sensitive right after my circumcision. Guy2 says: That went away gradually over time. I don't recall the exact words they used or I'd search for it, but it was in this thread I'm quite sure.
I don't understand why you think it's a dumb concept. Any mucosa exposed to the elements will dry and toughen.
I think there is a big misconception on circumcision. I don't agree with it but people assume it's wrong in almost most cases. It's only wrong when they're circumcised as young when they are not old enough to make the right choice for THEIR body or if they're forced. If an adult had to because of medical conditions or just wanted to get circumcised, there is NOTHING wrong with it.
