I live one state away from it (another fact I just fucking found out) and I don't even know how to spell it properly. I know that the capital of Kyrgyzstan is Bishkek, and that England is 700 km north of Toronto (and much further east...), but I know sweet fuck all about America.

Now excuse me as I go pore over some maps.

I used to live there and learned it by using this simple method...
Connect (as in connect the dots)
I (as in me)
Cut (as in are you? Oh no I'm not opening that can of worms.... Did you cut the grass?)

Ah, but ur Merkun.
Ah wanted erratic 2 anser.

I recently memorized all the state capitals. (I know, too much time on my hands.) And I was surprised how many I was not quite sure of.

A very good place to go to learn a lot about geography is Lizardpoint. You can test yourself on all the world's nations, all the capital cities, and many major cities.

You mean they didn't change the name of Pierre, South Dakota to Freedom Fries or some shit like that during the Bush administration?

I guess if Bismark didn't get a name change in WWII...

P.S. Thanks, nudeyorker; now whenever I see "Connecticut" I'm going to think of ridiculous LPSG circ threads. :p

I took their test on Africa and brought myself great shame.

(But I still did better with African capitals than American ones.)
Haha. I know all the American capitals.
(But the African ones? No. Just starting them.)
I think Lizardpoint is a really good site. I hope you learn a lot.

Yes now I am... but long ago in a far away land a young nudeyorker who was not an american citizen learned the state and world capitols on homemade flash cards.

I'm sorta old-fashioned about learning methods.
I think that kind of memorization is really worthwhile.
