- Mem,
I am finally settled in South Florida and I love it. This area is very gay friendly and the beaches are beautiful. The water is warm and very clear and on some days it looks like you are in a pool.
I love my apartment. Is is 100 times better than the apartment I had in NJ. The best thing is that it is on the second floor. This way I can keep the shades open to let light in (and walk around in my underwear). It also came partially furnished. It came with everything that I did not have. A sofa, a dining table set, a bed and a chest of drawers. It also has central AC. The bathroom and kitchen are not in great shape. The bathroom is similar to my old one. The only thing that is better is that the shower head water pressure is much better. The kitchen is slightly bigger than my old one. The electric stove sucks, but the double kitchen sink is nice.
I have been lurking a bit here, but I am finally settled to my old setup where I have my laptop hooked up to my HDTV and I have a keyboard and mouse that I can use from bed. I finally got all the stuff out of storage yesterday. I moved in on the 7th, so it took a while.
There seems to be a Walmart every three miles in every direction (some 24 hours), but that makes it convenient. There are a lot of retail stores and shopping areas around. There is also a lot of traffic. One thing that is different is that there are no train bridges that you go under. Since everything is so flat you have sometimes wait for the trains to pass. All in all I am thrilled with my new home state.
