So I`ve been here in Canada now since Feb this year and love it. Canada really is genuinely a great pace to live. But.
    I miss Jaffa Cakes!!!!!!
And Aniseed Balls, Real Cadbury chocolate and Galaxy. Notice a theme?
So Question is, what if any, do other posters miss from their homeland that they can no longer get in their chosen country of residence?
And for those that suggest getting Pimms(thats a sort of Jaffa Cake out here) They aint the same!!!!!

I love Pimms, I think they're much nicer than jaffa cakes, cherry beats orange any time.

Get a friend from the UK to post you a care package of all the stuff you miss.

I didn't leave the country but I may as well have. :frown1:
I moved from the Jersey Shore to rural Georgia in June and I miss the wonderful and easily attainable Italian food, epecially pizza.

I miss real bagels and shmear, Tastykakes, hoagies, everything at Wawa, sweet Italian sausage. But most of all I miss real Jersey beefsteak tomatoes! The tomatoes here are pretty; but they have no flavor, they taste like looseleaf paper. It's such a disappointment. :frown1: Next year I am going to have to rent a truck and fill it with Jersey shore soil and bring it down here and grow my own.

I think it is just human to want something that we can't get.
I depend on "Care Packages" from home.

Here in the states, you have to get all the above at Cost Plus World Market or a good import shop. I know the last time I got Jaffa Cakes though, they were rock hard and stale.

Part of the issue is this Homeland Security crap holding shipments up at the docks.

Thats how you prove Jaffa cakes are cakes not biscuits Osiris, biscuits go soft when they're stale, cakes go hard when stale. I was informed of that by a friend who works at McVities :)

I am actually very versed SP, I could do a proper high tea (Chinese or British) if you came for a visit. I had a great tutor from Telford named Abigail who gave me my British tutoring. That and a real bit of sexual awakening. Oh to be wreckless, 23, rich, and holed up in a beach front room in Fort Lauderdale with her again. Memories.

Imagining that spoken with the proper British accent really turns me on.

Another thing we are addicted to are Jammie Dodgers and we love our Hob Nobs and McVities. The baby LOVES her McVities. If she sees the cannister, she'll crawl over, stand up and reach.

Damn you Osiris I had almost managed to forget about proper biscuits, not those dreadful processed crappy cookie things that masquerade as snacks here. Thats more things to the list.

Today, while talking with a friend from home, we discussed foods we liked. I remembered this thread and thought I would add....
I miss Rutabagas! I'd almost do anything to get some (well almost).
    Can't get them in NYC.

I thought Pimms was a drink! I have not had Jaffa cakes for ages. Must get some now you mentioned them! Sorry!

I always lived in UK so I don't miss anything. I have been to Turkey and miss apple tea though and "Clove Rock" (boiled sweet tasting of cloves) from Ireland, although have found some in scotland too.

Pimms are sponge cake with jelly cherry filling instead of orange and they're covered in white chocolate, the cherry tastes really intense.

When I was a kid there were biscuits called Royal Scots, I didn't like them much as a kid because they weren't very sweet, they were very crumbly and melt in your mouth and I've been craving them for about the past twenty years.

Never heard of Pimms. Don't like the sound of white chocolate. Royal Scots sound nice! Do you know who made them? Maybe Tunnocks of Scotland? I like their Tea Cakes - Yum!:biggrin1:
