When I came home from my day hard at work,
There was a big hairy wolf, all sprawled on my bed!

He bumped his head on the lights, shed his fur here and there
and walk about bare foot, like he owned everywhere.

He snapped his jaws shut and said barely a word
His growl almost like thunder, his contentment a purr.

He brought me sweet honey from lands afar
and wrapped me securely in arms so big all tempered with scar.

Under the red moon, I was warm and safe and his in his den,
while the dark things outside, he kept distant, kept thin.

I woke once or twice, not sure of this dream,
and wept a happy tear, for finding him real, finding him here.

But tonight will be dark with no stars in the sky,
My wolf must return to his home, to that land, so distant, so far.

There, he'll battle the dark things and make them run scared,
His muscles all bulging, his anger keen and prepared!

Till under the red moon, till my wolf find me again,
I'll pine and eat honey, and remembering the time when.

I miss you my wolf.

Like you said, he will find you again and you'll have more good times. Keep yourself busy and time will make the parting easier.
