because basically, it is has to do with the large percentage of female involvement in this story. Many of the women say it is because of being co-erced or manipulated into recieving material or sending their own, by the male found guilty of being the ring leader.

There was a small paragraph sized piece in a free local publication here that I saw and decided to look further. Apparently, there was no evidence of aggravated abuse or assault reported.

I don't believe a person of sound mind, male or female could be coerced or manipulated into anything he or she did not want to do, unless, as in this case, they voluntarily wanted to be.

Anyway, for me I think it is the ultimate betrayal of trust, be by it either mum or dad to break the unwritten code of protection we silently sware to ourselves as parents when you hold your kids for the first time.

I do believe also, there are false accusations made against others as well, for whatever reasons, and this I personally find equally disturbing.

I'm sure you want to qualify this somewhat, otherwise there would be no such thing as rape. You probably haven't heard of such cases in the U.S. as Elizabeth Smart and others who were held for years against their wills and made to do unthinkable things, including going out in public with their abductors and not going to the authorities.

I don't believe a person of sound mind, male or female could be coerced or manipulated into this particular behaviour, if he or she did not want to unless, as in this case, they voluntarily allowed themselves to be.

I changed the wording a little. I did not read back through the article again, but I don't recall it being said that anyone was being held against their will, perhaps I am wrong.

I was concerned more with the number of women involved, not 1 or 2, apprehended, charged and convicted, as it is highly unusual in cases such as these. I'm not privy to all the information. One of the questions which came to my mind was about the kids of the mums involved, and how they may feel. To most of us as a child, and through the bumpy years mum and dad can be everything, more so your mum, as a parent I understand that even more, I inherited a lot of those good traits from my mum.

There are people out there, male and female that establish cults, religious or otherwise which have no problem in finding followers, but usually those followers are looking for 'something'. Those charged and how they became involved, remind me of that behaviour.

You saw something in my post I did not see, I hope by fixing up my wording a bit, it expresses my view more clearly. Maybe not :)

Since we are talking child porn, it is a matter of adults who are violating the psychological health of the ones who are supposed to be looking out for them as they grow. The ones who do it to them are also damaged. I do share your sense of outrage that the punishment is not harsher. However I am not going to make myself the judge when I am not in Sweden and not involved in the prosecution.

In Scandinavia there is no death penalty. So everybody gets therapy, in prison or out of it. still, those poor children.... :crying:

However, by posting here, I think you imply that females are getting let off more lightly than males. Please do not generalize beyond this horrid example you brought. Evil parents come in both genders.

By the way, I shared your link to the story on Facebook. One of the people interacting with this slob was a female minister.

I think it has been long known that around 10% of child sex abuse is committed by women. We culturally just don't like to talk about it. Perhaps the figure has the potential to rise, in part due to the networking opportunity that the internet now provides.

I did not like the insinuation by the author that in some respect open homosexuality in the Church and Judiciary was making these crimes more acceptable, or part of a general social and moral decline.

Yes, this fellow seems to be a muck-raker with a rather right-wing agenda. But he did provide lots of factual links to a story that is little known outside his home country.

I saw that too, and wondered how that, in any way, had bearing on the story at hand. Homosexual ≠ pedophile.

You'd be right. The linked paper is a "classical liberal" magazine. In case you're wondering "classical liberal" would describe the liberals of the civil war: states rights, segregationists who supported the institution of slavery.

There are a number of different reasons why I posted this story. The points drifter commented upon about the internet, decline in society ( those two could be related, there are +'s and -'s in everything). I too do not agree with the author of the article where he mentions homosexuality, he has 'his' opinions, yet I agree with helgaleena in regard to factual links he provides.

There were a very high number of women involved, did they get off lightly? I was not the judge, I was not there and it's not my focus. If there was a current events forum I would have posted it there, it did not seem like an Etcetera Etcetera story or Political, or any other.

The story was unusual, it exposed something not seen before. In one country. It made me think.

It's not that unusual. There have been several cases in the last few years in the UK of women running or being involved in paedophile rings. One involved women working at a nursery.

But, as this thread shows, people don't really want to talk about it. Much easier if paedos are dirty old men in raincoats rather that the woman minding your kids.

Is the way of the world drifter, and yes I understand the apprehension many feel. Society is changing in many respects, some is good some is bad. If we wound the clock back a couple of hundred years or so, things such as this would have been common place. Civilization was supposed to eradicate much of this, supposed too. But have to agree with your previous post, society in some respects, seems to be slipping backwards.
