Maybe this would be a better entry for a blog. I don't know. But, anyway.... for some time, I've heard guys talk about how they aren't gay or even bisexual but are fascinated by the penis. I had doubted this. You gotta be at least bisexual to be interested in the penis, I figured. But now, I think I get it.... I read some "Men Movement" book a while back that said the male identity revolves around the penis in a way that the female identity does NOT revolve around the vagina. The perspective of this book was that it was a bad thing; that the penis shouldn't be so central to the male identity. But I think I've admitted defeat and accepted that it IS central to the male identity. Anyway, what I think I finally "get" is this: if you accept that the penis is central to the male identity, then it only follows that males (of all orientations) would be fascinated by the penis. People tend to be fascinated by that which is central to their identities.

I guess I just never could reconcile my own fascination with something that I also find incredibly ugly and, occasionally, even gross, e.g., http://www.lpsg.com/338763-ever-grossed-out-by-your.html

I suppose what helped me finally "get it" is that I gave up. I think I was going by that "evolved male" (male feminist?) idea that it's wrong that the penis is so central to our identities. But you just can't fight nature. The male fascination with the penis is likely an evolutionary trait that has allowed the species to survive.

The male cock...is not ugly. Nor is the female cunt. You can read a book or books until you have one foot in the grave. Then all of of a sudden you wake up to the fucking fact you have a mind of your own. Thats why people write books, because they are individuals thinking for themselves who write books for others not so bright to write their own. If you have trouble trying to figure out your own identity, trying to identify with someone elses opinion is not going to do it for you. Think individualy for yourself and not use another persons point of view.

Read more fiction..:) :)

5 Inspiring Religions That Worship Penises | Cracked.com
This forum is sort of a modern day, information age version of ancient "phallus worship."

And, yes, the penis is very, very ugly. I mean, I love mine and I'm happy being a man. But it is an ugly body part, in a good way. One of the things this forum does for me is to allow me a sense of camaraderie to know other beings are also trapped in bodies that were cursed with such an ugly body part. LOL Hard to explain....

Verilux,
Bro, I understand you totally. It is ugly, but in a masculine, confident and therefore beautiful way. Damn that makes no sense. But I feel the same. I am proud of my gnarly, swinging, veiny, uncut schlong and lowhanging gnarly big balls -- in a masculine way. Sort of, take it or leave it, but its mine and I am damned proud of it! And the pleasure it brings others and me. Make any sense at all???? Hell, I give up....but I get what you are saying buddy. PEACE

I think my cock is more grossed out by me, considering it's the one that does the spewing most of the time when I touch it. It's starting to give me a complex.

Yeah. It's funny. It's like, the rest of our bodies are "Modern," you know? And we can wear modern clothes and everything. But the penis and the gross testicles remain sort of caveman-like. It's like a part of the male body that forgot to evolve or something. LOL :biggrin1:

I think it's fascinating how repulsed you are by a penis, especially your own. I'll admit that my bi-ness predisposes me to be attracted somewhat to them, but I can never remember being grossed out by my own dick. Personally, I think I have a very nice-looking dick, an assessment which has been confirmed by numerous other people as well.

Beauty being subjective, we might never be able to adequately express why exactly we are drawn or repelled by certain things, but I will say that I have seen enough dicks on this site to say that there truly are some ugly ones and then there are others that I think are very aesthetically pleasing. I think a lot of this has to do with similar reasons for why we find other things like faces or buildings aesthetically pleasing as well: proportions, symmetry, etc.

Now, I will allow that the male penis seems pretty ridiculous when considered on its own, but when it's understood in the context of the female body (as it is designed to be), it seems like a beautiful physical manifestation of male assertiveness, confidence, and power. Somewhat similarly related is how I have always felt like vaginas by themselves are kind of ugly (and even my female friend said she thought as much), but again in the context of their design for complementarity with the male body, they can be beautiful in their visible sign of female receptivity, mystery, and nurturing.

I feel like I'm getting a bit metaphysical here, but the point is, males and females are clearly designed to complete each other, and so when their respective oddities are considered in the context of the "other," then what seems gross, bizarre, or downright baffling takes on a certain logic and beauty.

It's hard to explain. I find the penis ugly, occasionally even repulsive, but in a positive way. Ugly, repulsive, but also awesome. Maybe it's kind of like.... lift up the hood of a vehicle and look at the engine. Not exactly an attractive thing, but it's awesome in the way it functions and keep the vehicle moving.

On a grammatical note, why refer to it as "the male penis"? There is an earlier reference in this thread to "the male cock"? Isn't that redundant? I mean, is there also a "female penis" that I'm not aware of? LOL :biggrin1:

Oh, also ... not just ugly, I find the penis funny and occasionally hilarious and, of course, embarrassing at times; I mean, you know, when it gets hard when you don't want it to. The hilarious bit, well.... come on, erections are funny looking. LOL. It's funny to see pictures of guys (some on this site) standing there all stud-like, and with a huge erection in front. Yeah, it's awesome to have an erection, and it's awesome to be male and have a cock; but there's also a humor in it as well. :)

I think if a guy is grossed out by his penis. He has some serious issues that need to be addressed.

I've actually heard a lot of guys say they think penises are ugly. It's actually pretty common. And if you think that occasionally getting the sense that one's own dick is gross is indication of "serious issues" then maybe you're taking the whole thing too "seriously." (The incidents where I've felt my penis was gross were incidences where I had been beating off for a while. So, maybe it was just that I was tired of it and needed to stop....)
